Velox Liquid versus Apollo Air

Between the following two builds which one would you recommend for gaming at up to 4k resolution? Both are almost the same price and I know that with the Apollo build I could change it to the Intel Core i7 5930K 3.5GHz to save some money as games are not going to take advantage of 8 cores for awhile.

Hi smit9448... If it was me, I'd do a combo of the two. If you don't plan on adding a 3rd video card for tri sli, then the second build with Noctua on stage 1 overclock is best for the money.   If you want water cooling then go for it, but not needed. It is nice but more of a luxury.

If you want the option to tri sli then the first build with the 5820k cpu works great.   Like you said, 8 core isn't needed and the only realistic difference between 5820k and 5930k is the number of Pciex lanes from the cpu. 5820k has 28 lanes for x8x8x8 and 5930k has 40 lanes for x16x16x8.   No real difference between x8 and x16 with gen 3.0.

Which, ironically enough, will really want liquid cooling. As we were discussing in another thread. Three cards that close to each other, heating each other up, and blowing all that hair back into the case.

Better get some high grade static pressure fans to keep them cool. Haha, it's always a balancing game here.

This assumes that the graphics cards have custom coolers. With the stock coolers they blow air out of the case. Also, with the Apollo, you have 2x 140mm and a 120mm (bottom intake) blowing air into the case and 3x 140mm fans blowing out of the case. With the upper front intake fan not having anything blocking it. I just don't see air cooling a problem with this case. I am sure if the 3rd graphics card gets too hot during load testing, DS will inform him and suggest a fix.
