Anyone have any method they used that was simple? I have so much junk on old PC, debating on manually transferring a few things and accepting I will lose some stuff |

Your question gave me a kickstart to get into this because Win8.1 cannot use a transfer cable without 3rd party software and it seems windows will not support data transfer in the future. It seems good answers are hard to find but I found 2 ways and 2 3rd party software that seem like good options. 1: http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_8-networking/how-to-transfer-data-between-two-laptops-using-lan/7d95a049-07b8-47d3-8bb2-322c928d648e 2: To transfer file and settings using the “Windows Easy Transfer” feature on Windows 8.1, you first need to create an “Easy Transfer file”(.MIG file) from your old Windows 7 computer and then save it in a USB external drive or a DVD. Now, you may use the Windows Easy Transfer” feature on Windows 8.1 computer to transfer all the files and settings from this .MIG file (which you have saved in the USB external drive or DVD) to your new Windows 8.1 computer. 3: http://www.delitestudio.com/app/file-transfer-for-windows/ 4: http://www.easeus.com/free-pc-transfer-software/ Let me know what you end up doing because I have about 360G on my 2 win7 machines I'd like to get on to this Vanquish. |

Hi michaeljhuman,
Why can't you copy to a memory stick or DVD and then copy to your new computer. You could do as little or as much as you want. I did one transfer with a program I bought with a cable. I picked and chose everything I wanted and the program ignored my choices and copied everything. I still have old junk I didn't want to transfer. Frak Edited by FrankW - 05 Mar 2015 at 9:22am |

I may do what you say. It's just time consuming to figure out what I want. I want to keep emails, and no idea where windows live keeps them. I want all my docs, photos, music, project files etc.
Not looking forward to re-installing some stuff, like Cubase because it was a pain the first time with all the drivers you need |
