I'm wondering if anyone can give me any information about this.

Is your system placed at a bigger risk of system damage if it's shipped overseas? If I pay for Express shipping, how long will this take? Are there any other hidden charges? (Customs, etc)?

I'm planning on getting the Battlebox Bolt II and would hate for any of the above to happen to such an expensive machine. I wish DS did the wooden crate thing that Origin does :(

Thank you!

I believe DS does have a wooden crate option but i think that is for bigger items although not entirely sure if its just for the bigger pcs.

DS does ship to Canada and you'd need to contact DS with your international address and the config number you want. They'll give you the shipping cost, which does include shipping, customs, import duties, etc.

The crate is an option as Arkansas said, and usually for $5000 plus water cooled systems but still available if you willing to pay the extra cost.

DS would have to get involved with the pricing. Several hundred dollars plus the few hundred for a crate would be typical from what I've seen quoted on the forums.

Thank you! Damn, if I have to pay customs on a DS system it's going to decimate my wallet! The config I'm going for is expensive as it is :(

I'm going by an almost recent almost purchase of someone I know. My mom's BF wanted the vanquish lvl 3 and ordered it online . He lives in quebec, after a few days DS called him and informed him of a pretty hefty customs charge and he passed on it..It became not so much of a good deal since the vanquish is one of those deals at that price.

F's sake. I'll be ordering to Ontario too which is the the grand daddy of customs charges. Any ideas on how I could make this work without jumping through hoops of fire?

If anyone from DS staff could chime in it would be highly appreciated. If I'm dropping $5,000 on a machine I don't want to pay like $1,000 on shipping and extra charges.

Doing some research it appears there is no duty on anything labelled 'Made in the USA' (which the DS box proudly displays (luckily). It appears the only thing that must be paid is the HST which is 14% in Ontario. I'm not sure if this information is correct.

Send DS an email tomorrow or Alex may pop up in a bit and say something.

Thanks for your help! I've e-mailed DS sales, let's hope it's positive. Let's not stop borders from making us a part of Team DS :(

The person at DS who would be the one to contact is John@digitalstormonline. He's the sales guru who crunches the numbers for tax and shipping charges.

Good luck, eh.

Hi,

Shipping does include custom duty/tax and import fees which will total to $1,000+ on a $5,000+ purchase.

Thanks for the information. That's a crazy mark up :( I'll be less ambitious and see how much a non-Titan Z Bolt II would set me back. I've sent the sales team an e-mail. (Gulp.)

Another forum member recently went through the same decisions with shipping to Canada. Here's a link to his thread.     ...http://www.digitalstormonline.com/forums/bolt-2-future-proof-with-upcoming-hardware-tidf22671/

His came to $700 with banking fees? Not sure if the banking fees apply to you.

Hope this works out for you. The Bolt is a fine build.

Thanks for all your help! I e-mailed sales@digitalstormonline and John@digitalstormonline as recommended above and haven't get a reply with yet regards to what the total cost would be for a Bolt II (non-Battlebox). I'm willing to pay a markup that's less than $1000. Hopefully they will get back to me soon on this :(

inabsentia - I live in Calgary, my reciept for customs says $344.95 USD and an extra $65 for shipping. That's for a Bolt II, the current lvl 3 model, I didn't upgrade it and I ordered it on Aug 26th.

Hope that helps, I am sure that number could change depending on what province.....also FX isn't at a good place right now....but when you want something, you want something.

Thank you so much for this! That doesn't seem too bad at all to be honest and the Level 3 (with a 780Ti as opposed to a 780) is exactly what I'm getting with a few other minor upgrades.

Did you choose the Express/Expedited shipping options by any chance?

EDIT: Damn, just realised Alberta has a 0% HST rate, just a 5% federal tax. Ontario has a total tax of 13%. Still not bad at approx $420-450.

I didn't choose any upgraded shipping....they just sent it Fedex. It left late yesterday afternoon, it's in Oakland right now. Fedex is estimating it'll be at my house tomorrow (friday) afternoon.

May have to take the day off work.

Ya and the tax situation is a little easier here in Alberta. You're always welcome to come and join us!
