CTO Clemens Pfeiffer and CEO Donnie Foster of "Power Assure" are spearheading a new breakthrough in efficientcy of server farms, their software continiously monitors the use and lack thereof of each peice of server hardware, including the cooling systems, individually and narrows it all down to a versitile GUI.
A large server farm may typically spend $6 million yearly on electricity bills, according to Foster.
The article states that even at idle, most servers still draw 60%-90% of what they need at full load. Power Assure is currently running small scale tests with Yahoo and Facebook.
