Hello all!

I might take a contract in Qatar(Sidra hospital). Anybody been there(Qatar)?

Do I need to buy a custom built DS for overseas use?
We have a DS laptop. Can I use this in Qatar?
I do NOT want to just use a laptop. If I'm staying in Qatar for 2+ years I want a nice desktop.
And I will not ship my "cube" over there.
People have told me that buying electronics in Qatar is very expensive and to ship my goodies from USA.
So I guess I would have to buy here and ship to there?
Would DS honor a warranty overseas?

Well, I'm no help with the original questions... but a chance to visit Qatar for 2 years?  Wow, what an opportunity.
 
If you do head to Qatar, and you're not taking your cube with you, do you need someone to babysit it?  I come with references.  Big%20Smile

Hi RPGer.... Qatar would be a nice assignment. Hope what's best works out for you.

The only concern between here and overseas is the input a.c. voltage. Most better power supplies, like Corsair for one, have auto switching to match where you are. Others have a small switch on the back to switch between 110vac and 240 vac.    

I believe a laptops charger/psu, brick, needs a converter between it and the wall. The battery itself is fine.

For DS warranty, my guess is they won't give you the free shipping for 30/45 days. They'll honor the parts warranty but it would be on you for the shipping both ways. Phone support would be there. Calling and asking DS would be the way to go.
