I just noticed today that I have a new res - 2715 x 1527?? Wow? Pretty nice as far as I can tell! I've been using it in games as well. Not sure if its because I have a 27" monitor maybe? Anyone else notice these new settings?

Hi Clay... That's DSR I believe, Dynamic Super Resolution that nvidia drivers now have since the gtx 980. When enabled in Control Panel it renders games at a higher resolution than your monitor then shrinks it so to speak to fit a lower res monitor. Kinda like a super sampling. 4k gaming on a 1080p monitor , or so they say. Not really but sharper image for some.
I haven't tried it so can't give any personal feedback. How's it working? Any problems? Have fun. |

Wow!! All I can say is WOW!! With my 27" monitor... I'm getting everything!! I have the ingame resolution at its highest Just crazy!!
~just came out of a game where I had it set @ 3840x2160 - no issues as far as I can tell! I put my settings from Ultra to normal. But, all the avatars are HUGE! Headshots are a bit easier lol Edited by Clay - 17 Jan 2015 at 1:37pm |

Good to hear.
You bringing this up has me thinking I might update my gtx 570 to the latest driver and check it out. Gtx 570, Fermi, is older but supported. |

Single 570 with a 24" 1920x1080. Still keeping me happy. I'm a simple guy.

This sounds almost too good to be true. The GPU does this by formatting the picture in a buffer to the new resolution and then reduces it to your native resolution. Kind of like bit stuffing, I guess? I don't know anything about it but I would think if they have a really complicated scene they might induce lag or delay in the buffer conversion process. I wonder if someone playing the same game on line at the same time with out the technology would see the scene a fraction of time before the guy using the technology.
In any event you are still seeing a picture in the native resolution of your monitor but it may contain more information. Sounds like a slick idea. Looking forward to hearing from others that try this. Frank Edited by FrankW - 18 Jan 2015 at 9:17am |

Hi Frank.... Yeah, it looks pretty cool, but all that extra pixel sampling and rendering is bound to cause a hit in frames.
Clay... The last several months I've been playing Borderlands 2, Civ5 family, including the new Beyond Earth, Skyrim and Metro 2033. FarCry 3 on occasion. Sniper Elite V2 also. |
