Hello
First time trying to configure a gaming machine so any input would be welcomed. The budget is $2500 and that does not include the monitor or peripherals. The machine will primarily be used for online gaming and I want to run on ultra settings with as high a frame rate as possible. This is the build I have come up with

Hi soonerscot....Welcome to the forums.
That is a great build. Pretty much right on. I always, however, recommend the Dreadnought's HafX case as the best air cooled case but the 550D will work and is a quality case and quiet as-is.. Just doesn't have the same cooling as the HafX's 230mm front fan and 2x 200mm top and side fans. For me the more air flow the better and the HafX is also quiet, just not as quiet I would guess. If you want to save a few $$ you could go with 8GB ram, all that gaming can use and the gtx 670 graphic card for $85 less. Here's alink that compares the cards. Don't forget the free t-shirt. I think it's the law. Good luck. Edited by bprat22 - 28 Jul 2012 at 1:22pm |

Thanks for the feedback. After lurking in the forums to see what I could learn ( very informative group of people) I have come up with a "final build" and will place an order this week. Just wanted to post and get one last chance for people to offer any advice.

That build is right on. Go for it. The 2600k is a bit different, but for $99 less over the 3770k, does give you hyperthreading and the same cache. And since you'll probably never use the Ivy Bridge Pcie 3 benefit, why not. Congrats.

And, as an added bonus, it is a Digital Storm, which means that shot won't blow it to shreds on sight.

Hi soonerscot,
With your CPU selection and the D14 cooler I would go for Stage 2 OC. It is well within the performance limits of this configuration. All your DS friends will make fun of that wimpy OC. Frank |

There seems to be a lot of us "old guys/gals" around here. Hum gets me to wonder what the age statistics of DS customers would look like.
