Well apparently I can's use a link in my post and lost about 20 minutes of work.  I tried the back button and that didn't work.

Yeah.  I want to buy the new Asus Gaming Montor.  The Asus ROG SWIFT 27 inch PG278.

So what is the right build?  The bolt has a Titan Z special edition but the reviews on the Titan isn't that great.

So maybe a 2x sli build with the 780Ti 3GB or even a dual Titan Black 6GB would be better.

However, I go through the pricing and the bolt special is kind of price comparable.

So, I don't know which to choose.

My original post was much better, lol.

Hi MichealD... Depends what you want.   Unless you plan on going to 4k gaming, then a sli, 2x 780ti rig will give you the same gaming for a lot less than Titan Z. The beauty of the Titan Z is its ability to give you a sli Titan Black in a small form, single card case like the Bolt.

Titan Black and 780ti are the same performance, with the Titan's 6gb vram useful for 4k, super res display. Titan Z does scale a little worse than 2x Titan Black or 2x 780ti.

If the smaller footprint Bolt isn't needed, an Apollo config for example, with the same guts like 4790k, Z97 Deluxe , 250gb SSD , lighting packages, h100 240mm rad, etc with sli 780ti will cost under $4000.

I can't cut/paste right now on the tablet but I can later with the config number.

That monitor doesn't need SLI to drive it. Even a GTX 770 shouldn't have a problem driving the Rog Swift, it is a 2k or 1440p monitor, not 4k. You should be able to drive it just fine with a single GTX 780 Ti. Here are some benchmarks for that card: http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1072

Thanks for the feedback.

What I want is to play cool games on the same computer for a long time.  I don't mind paying more now if it lasts longer.  I just don't want to buy poorly.

The reason why I thought a dual 780 Ti would be great with the Rog Swift is not only the resolution (2560x1440), but the 144Hz refresh rate. I'm not sure why you can post links, but I can't, lol, or I would post a link of some results comparing the Titan Z, 780 Ti and the dual 780 Ti.

It looks like the dual 780 Ti performs better and at a much better price then Z.  Then I stumbled on the Bolt special edition and it looks like they discounted the card or something else on that computer.  So before I pass up on the Titan Z, I wanted to make sure I wasn't making the wrong decision.

Also, I have no idea which chassis to choose.  The Apollo or the Slade looks fine, or I can spend a lot more money on the Hailstorm II, but why?

Finally, should I overclock the gpu, and if so what level of cooling would I need?

Most gaming will play great on your monitor with a single 780ti..  If you want Ultra, maxed out gaming with all games and stay at 60fps or better, the sli is needed.  Doubtful a single card will disappoint.

The sli 780ti will perform at least as  good or better than a Titan Z for a lot less money.   They are very close, but the sli 780Ti is definitely a better bang for your buck. 

The Bolt 2 Ultimate with Titan Z is a good deal.  You get sli Titan Black performance in the small box and the Hardline Acrylic yellow tubing for great looks and cooling.  

For cases, they all work.   A personal choice in most cases. 

Overclocking the 780 family does give you a decent bump in gaming, probablt 10% or so.  It does oc well.  Other cards like the 770, etc not so much.

Yeah, I think the Apollo build is what I am going to go with. 

Is the cooling good enough?  I saw better cooling options like H20: HydroLux Level 1, or if I want to cool directly to the gpu, level 3.

But at a price of $1,227 is it worth it?  Do I even need it?

Water cooling does allow for higher overclocking and can be quieter, especially if the graphics cards are water cooled.   The fan on the graphic cards are typically the noisiest part of a gaming rig when they get stressed.  But, they don't need water cooling.  It's more a luxury than a necessity. 

With an adequately air cooled case, like the Apollo, Corsair 760T, the cards will do fine. 

The 240mm sealed liquid cooler unit, like the H100i,  will also work just fine. 

Not knocking a water cooler setup.  If you can, then go for it.  But it is more $$ and a little harder to work on.

OK still obsessing....

I am thinking the Slade might be a better chassis than the Apollo as my wife might get jealous of a sexy box...

I want what is best for gaming, so I chose the i7 4790 processor and the Asus Maximus VII Hero motherboard.  Hopefully this is the right selection. 

Maybe instead of "good", "better", "best" and "ultimate", we should break those down to "good gaming", "good business", etc...  It would save me lots of time researching, lol.

I don't know if I need a bigger radiator either as I am new to cooling and overclocking.  The LC options sounds good though.  I don't know if I should do a stage 2 overclock either.

That build works.   The Slade, Corsair 550d, is a more closed up case, made for quiet running, but can be opened up by removing the top and side panel if you needed more cooling.

For strictly gaming, you can save some $$ by going with the i5-4690k. The i7 does give you Hyperthreading if needed , but gaming doesn't use it much.

The difference in performance between stage 1 and stage 2 overclocking is small. If you stay with stage 1 oc the 120mm rad is fine.
