Hello forum
I just recvd my DS rig, and I am very impressed with the speed and stability, thank you!!

In the last couple of days, when the desktop comes up, I get a bubble from Intel Update Manager wanting to do system updates.

I really do not want to mess with the DS config, but is this something I should do?

Thanks....

Hi MIKEUSA....   Intel just released the new 344.48 driver for the graphics card, and that pop-up is probably reminding you, incessantly.   Hahaha

You can go into Control Panel, Uninstall programs and just uninstall it if you want a more manual control.  I like doing it myself by using GeForce website.

The update does have some perks, but if the rig is real new, better to run it for "X" number of days just to make sure all is well.

Good Luck. Big%20Smile

If by chance there is no Intel Update manager in Control panel, then you might have to use the Task Scheduler to disable it. Not sure if its still a separate program or not.

Intel Update Manager isn't related to an Nvidia product or software.  So, just to confirm, you're definitely asking about an Intel Update Manager and not GeForce Experience?

Roykirk might be right.   Big%20Smile

I might be thinking of the Intel Driver update utlitly which I have uninstalled a couple of years back.

Let us know.

Roykirk...Is this a Windows 8 only program?  Appears to be but I still have Win 7.

The only updates I've received are the GeForce Experience updates... and you can't miss those.

Per Roykirks link... Intel Update Manager:

Intel Update Manager for Windows * 8 setup is an application that assists users of Windows 7 transition their Intel software applications to Windows 8
OS: Windows 8*, Windows 8, 32-bit*, Windows 8, 64-bit*

No wonder I was all discombobulated.  Haven't had the pleasure of Win 8.   HahahaBig%20Smile

Not to drag things off-topic too much, but I'm actually very happy with Windows 8.1.  I skipped 8 right until just before 8.1 was released, and with Start8 and ModernMix—even on Windows 8—it worked well for me

I only see the ModernUI because I configured Start8 to bring me to it in certain specific circumstances.  Otherwise, you can configure it so that you'll never see it.

Also, you have to have Windows 8 to get NetFlix to feed you the highest bitrate currently available.  Due to DRM issues, you can't get that bitrate watching NetFlix in a browser; you have to use the ModernUI app.

Back on topic, if you don't need the Intel Update Manager (your conversion from 7 to 8 is complete), just uninstall it.  I'd never even heard of it until this thread popped up, but I'm a clean freak who never upgrades OSes, but does clean installs every 1-2 years max, even on the same hardware.
