Make sure you have your cable attached to the video card and not the MB video output.
The video card will be above the rest of the outputs. I just looked and the case has the MB outputs and plugs lower down and the Video cards above those outputs. If you are doing that. Then I would try reseating the video card. Are the fans working? Does it sound like it is booting up? Edited by Ariktu - 15 Jan 2015 at 2:15pm |

Just to add.... if your monitor has only a vga connector then you'll need a vga to dvi adapter. Video cards no longer have vga ports. If your monitor has both vga and dvi/hdmi, use the dvi or hdmi.
Depending on your video card , there might he a vga to dvi adapter in the accessory box. Good luck. Edited by bprat22 - 15 Jan 2015 at 2:29pm |

There are two sets of monitor connections on the back, the vga and hdmi that go to the motherboard and the hdmi, dvi, etc that go to the video card. With a video card, the motherboard vga and hdmi are disabled. If you're hooking to the ports near the rear USB and audio ports then that's the wrong area. Like Ariktu suggested, go up from there.
Go to the top most monitor ports. They might have plastic caps over them. If you look in the side window, follow the video card to the rear. That's the correct area. If you are connecting to the video card near the top then you have other problems. Can you verify it is connected to the video card? Edited by bprat22 - 15 Jan 2015 at 3:01pm |

At least we know you're not hooking to the motherboard. The x99 doesn't have integrated video.
The gtx 980, depending which one , does have a mix of hdmi, dvi and display port. No vga. If you're hooking to the hdmi and still no video, then can you try the monitor and cable on another pc? I would call DS if the monitor is good elsewhere. Could he a bad card or connection. The power cables to the 980 are seated correctly, both at the card and power supply? yes i believe everything is seated correctly. fans are spinning....i am having pc savvy friend come over in the morning to double check all the connections..it worries me that BOTH the hdmi and vgi are not getting any video output on the screen. And they say they stress test these rigs before shipment lol

With it turned on, even no video, see if the Num Lock and Caps Lock light when pressed. That helps to tell if the rig actually loaded to Windows.
Good luck and DS will get you going. |

That usually means the mobo, cpu and OS drive are good because OS booted. No guarantees but a good sign. Sounds like the 980.
If you're using a vga to hdmi adapter it could be that unless it works elsewhere. |

Not necessarily. DS needs to troubleshoot this themselves in case we missed something, but if it is the 980, they will send you just the 980 to swap. You'll have to put a hold on credit for the cost of the card until they get the old one back. But the shipping, the part, etc is on them.
Hopefully we missed something simple but if not, it'll get fixed. They have excellent support. Stay in touch. |
