Topic: HDMI Audio Output Posted: 05 Aug 2012 at 11:32am |
Hi,
I am having a weird issue with the hdmi output on my gtx670 I have my monitor plugged in to one of the dvi ports and that is working via along with the on-board audio into my speakers. I have been trying to setup outputting to my tv via the hdmi output, picture is showing up fine but the audio isn't coming through at all. I though maybe in the control panels i should set it as the default but when i go there the tv doesn't even show up, bizarrely when i use the nvidia control panel to disable audio via the hdmi port then the tv shows up on the list! (it is e421vo in the pictures below I thought it might be a driver issue but i have the latest nvidia drivers installed... any ideas? |

Try leaving the TV on - make sure no other source is plugged into the pc, aka speakers, dvi, vga.. and then turn off the pc.
Reboot the pc. Make sure you shut it down, not restart. My alienware did this all the time. Basically for me, it was having the system post with only HDMI to send to. Hope that helps. |

Hi UKCoopeR,
Have you tried more than one HDMI port? Have you tried a different HDMI cable? Frank |

Hi xii, will give that a shot. One of the reasons I was changing from a dvi/vga connection to my tv was having to only run one cable. If not having my monitor plugged in is the solution I might end up sticking with vga as seeing what I am selecting on the tv is a bit tough from my desk as it isn't quite line of sight. I suppose could shift things around a bit if the performance is better, but they both enable the tv to run and 1080...
Hi FrankW, I did try both hdmi ports on the tv only have one hdmi cable though. Thanks both! |

Unplugging everything a/v wise and booting up with only hdmi to the tv didn't fix it
Found a few posts of people with similar issues, mainly on the windows forum which pointed to some kind of windows issue. For now I think I will stick with the vga/dvi and 1/8" audio so that I can hot swap and keep the hdmi cable for something else. I don't know much about this stuff but I don't think there is a performance difference as both allow the tv to be at maximum resolution without any frame-rate or tearing issues... |
