Here is an article about the new Haswell - E CPUs from Intel along with their x99 chipset. Leaks suggest it will be released in June.

http://www.guru3d.com/news_story/intel_haswell_e_has_8_coresx99_chipsetddr4_memory.html

The new CPUs will have 8 cores. Another article I read stated it will actually have 14 cores but 6 will be disabled.

The new CPUs will be able to use the 2011 socket along with a new 2013 socket.

DDR4 memory will also be supported (in the 2013 socket only).

Power uses will have new CPUs to play with. :)

Therefore, the 1st step on the Holy Warrior path,
Is to recognize thyself as thy 1st enemy.

That's good news. I see a lot of chatter on the internet that Intel's thermal interface material has gone down in quality over the years, but delidding your CPU to replace A) requires serious precision, and B) voids your warranty. A better TIM would be great for less adventurous enthusiasts like me.

Wow - that sounds pretty darn impressive.  I was thinking of buying around May (was hoping for some sort of DS discount around Memorial Day) but I'd wait another month for that!  They are talking about huge performance upgrades...
