Well I just read that the 800 series should be faster, cheaper and more efficient than the 700 series. If this so happens to be true, do we know if they will be compatible with the vanquisher II Motherboards? If it is i would probably consider it in the future as an upgrade

The newer 800 series cards should slip right into a Vanquish motherboard, unless there's some radical departure we haven't heard of.
The power supply will have to match the card. |

They should and most likely will be more efficient but we'll have to wait and see.

Leaked images of what they believe will be the Titan 2 running on a GM204 (not the GK204) show the need for a 2x 6 pin and 1x 8pin power supply.
There are also some leaked images of the GTX 880 (we believe). But for the most part, they will all run PCI-e 3.0... There's talk of a revision for 3.1, but regardless, they are will going to fit into any and all motherboards that have at very least a PCI-e 2.0 slot... which if you have a PC that is within a 5ish (give or take several years) age frame, you will be fine there. Most PCI-e 3.0's are x16... and cards don't even utilize that amount of lane bandwidth. The Performance difference between an x8 and x16 or even a 2.0 vs 3.0 is less than 5%. In most cases, it's less than a 1% difference in performance. So the odds of you having any issues with running a new GTX 800 series card will reply purely on your PSU, not your motherboard. |
