I mentioned the MCR320 radiator, because it performs with all the top radiators, and is the cheapest.  I like Feser for medium speed setups 1000-1400 RPM fans and Thermochill or XSPC RX series for low speed fan setups 600-1000 RPM
Here is all the top radiators, as you can see your stealth is not on the list, and the GTX is, but you can see with low speed fans it sucks horribly, and does OK with medium, and rocks with high speed, but then in the second picture you can see the pressure drop, and maintaining high flow is very important, so less pressure drop = lower temps, so compound the high water temps, with high restriction, and you have a poor performing setup. Now you can overcome the restrictiveness with lots of pumps, spend $300-$600 on pumps and you can get the flow back up.

Justin, thanks again for the great information.  Lol...more studying to do. Smile  Do you recommend a fan controller for the radiator fans?  Because on my current setup and what I read on the zalman site, the fans have two speeds but I can't adjust the rpm's without a controller.  In BIOS, all fans are set to 100%

the Zalman fans can be controlled by a controller, very easy.

I don't like to recommend controllers because they add complexity and add to potential problems. saying that I also have one on everyone of my rigs. lol
I am in the midst of re-doing my Drunken Monkey's cooling, just trying to quiet it down more, and squeeze a couple more degrees out of it.... Damn water cooling is like crack, $800-$1000 to just upgrade a few parts... freaking stupid, wish I never started with it..
I am using Gentle Typhoons 1850 RPM fans, so that when I am benching I get very good temps, and then for normal usage I run them at 5V so about 770 RPM, and silent, I like this setup, but like I said it adds $$, and complexity that most do not want, nor need.
You can, for free run the Zalman fans at 5 volts, they still are loud at that level in my opinion, and they will not cool that well, so best option would be to not mess with them.
so best bet for you would really be to have DS re-mount the water block, maybe the TIM wasn't perfect, maybe it is, but there is always that chance .  That should be free, and help temps, a triple rad and one more fan will surely cut temps but will cost you a bit more.. Then you can step up to expensive radiator(s) and high dollar fans, and a better pump(s) and get better performance, and less noise, but you will be running down a very slippery slope headed to water cooling financial hell.Smile

The main reason I asked about the fan controller is because I live in the San Francisco Bay area, and of course there is no A/C where I live.  Granted, it very rarely gets above 80F, and wasn't sure if a contoller would help on those rare warm days.

not really, my house has central air, but because of the amount of heat produced from the PC's it get 85-90F during the summer.

Justin:

I have 11 p.c.'s....7 Pentium P4's, 2 i7-920's an i7-860 and a few laptops.
I too have cental air, live in Chicago where it gets 95-100 degrees in the summer and have to rely on my house air conditioner to cool my p.c.'s.

Questions:
1.)   do you really wish you had not gone to LC? Because I was thinking about going to it before the summer...my a/c bill kills me in the summer.

2.) Any reason you use Zalman fans?   After i got my new DS rig, I put 3 Noctua fans in the top of the Corsair 800-D case, pulling cool room air into the case...they run at 1000 r.p.m. at 18db and brought my temps down, especially on my nvidia card because they blow the air right on it.  I use the DEMCiflex filters to keep out the dust.

3.)  Do you feel this setup will be better in the summer or would LC be the way to go?  I can't afford $$$$$$ and I would rather buy another rig then spend it on LC.
My current room temps are 73 degrees  F and with all 8 threads and my GTS250 card going full throttle, I am at 80 degrees C and 70 degrees C on the ndvidia card. (which is crunching folding@home).

4.)I was hoping the three intake fans could help cool the new FERMI in the summer(if they are outSmile) but now i am not sure.

I could move the rigs into my attached garage which is 10-15 degrees cooler in the summer but then I get all the dust/dirt which clog the DEMICflex almost daily and I don;t get to stare at my DS rig....Confused

LC or No?

(do not game...cruncher...math mostly)

ANSWERS Ouch

1. liquid cooling will not lower the amount of heat put into a room. your PC is still putting out the same heat, just dissipating it differently, but heat dump into the room is the same. I really wish I would have stayed air, I spent over $5,000 last year just in liquid cooling stuff...  Dead

2.I do not use Zalman fans, hate em, can't get rid of em, yanked them out of my DS rig, put them in a few builds for a couple customers, and they hated the noise, so had to replace, lol Most of them  I ended up gutting  to make fan shrouds. lol
3. as the ambient temps rises, air or water both will scale appropriately.

4. Fermi will be out. lol

Took the rig back to DS today to have the water block installed according to manufactures specs, and upgrade the radiator to a triple rad. Will keep the progress updated.

@justin thank you, I appreciate all your help!

RMA Update:

2/25/2010 - email received "Thank you for your payment"
3/04/2010 - email recieved "Updating computer location"....lol...not quite sure what that means.

They did tell me when I dropped the rig off that it could take longer than normal due to still moving into their new facility, which by the way is very nice.

RMA Update - Part 2

3/09/2010 - Received phone call from Eric.  He told me I had to fill out an RMA, I told him I did and gave him the name of the person who helped me fill the RMA out since I did it in person.  He found the original RMA information and stated it was entered wrong, but he took care of it over the phone and I ended up not having to re-submit an RMA form, which was great.  Eric was very helpful as he listened to what needed to be installed correctly, the waterblock, and what needed to be upgraded, the radiator.

3/9/2010 - email received "The status of your return service has been updated!

Stage 1: (Duplicating Issues)
We have received your computer system and are currently analyzing and documenting your package. A technician is currently removing the computer system from the packaging and setting up a test bench specifically for your order. We will then analyze the reason why the system has arrived for service and determine the necessary steps in duplicating the issue."

In addition, here is a break down of all the stages your computer will be going through:

Stage 1: (Received Computer)
Stage 2: (Duplicated Issue)
Stage 3: (Resolved Issue)
Stage 4: (Final Stability Testing)
Stage 5: (Sent to QA)

3/9/2010 - email received "filled out rma form correctly"

Yes that is the plan to enter the BIOS changes and retest.

DS changed the waterblock like you recommended, installed a triple radiator which is a Black Ice GTX 360, which is what they had in-stock, and yes the same fans.  Pics below.

Sounds good to me!

Will post in the morning on the differences in the BIOS settings from when I originally got it and from after the upgrade.  Have already made changes in the BIOS, and started re-testing.  Currently running Prime95.  Temps are currently running 7C to 10C cooler.

The only reason I posted the original vs after upgrade BIOS settings is that even with the different settings, I still had the same OC of 3.75.

Got an error on the first run of Prime95, 76C was the highest temp registered on RealTemp .  Bumped up the CPU VCore two clicks from 1.375V to 1.3875V, which is what we did on the orignal OC prior to upgrade.  Restarted Prime95 and Highest temp so far is 78C, has been averaging mid 70C.

justin, went up two more clicks on vcore which puts it at 1.4V.  I just made the change and restarted Prime95.  I was doing some experimenting yesterday with the BIOS settings listed below and was able to do 20 passes of linx and 12 plus hours of Prime95 without errors.  However the overall system performance was not the best.  Would you be able to part with more of your wisdom Sensei...lolSmile?   I have also included the current settings being tested below this first set.

For a lack of a better word, choppy, not smooth.  When it booted into windows the mouse pointer would freeze for a few seconds several times.  When I moved a window across the screen, it didn't seem to move smoothly, it kind of jumped a bit.  lol...maybe I chose the wrong word.  Maybe I should have said the system didn't seem as smooth like when the other settings were adjusted...lol.  The system was still fast.  lol...did that help at all?

The cpu uncore is at 16x.  missed that when I copied and pasted.  cpu pll is stll at auto.  Even at auto, it's showing 1.8v.  Still need to change it to 1.8?

Hard drive is corsair p256 SSD.
