I have a chubby.

Too bad there are only 2 Intel 6Gb/s ports. Oh well, looking forward to the enthusiast version later on. Oops

Am I understanding this correctly, that ssd's on the upcoming Sandybridge platfrom will produce those performance numbers?

2x Crucial RealSSD 256GB SSDs in RAID 0 will produce those numbers on the upcoming Sandy Bridge P67 platform, yes.

Thank you for the response Dragoonseal.  How do you think the Intel G3 ssd's will perform compared to the Crucial?

The G3s aren't aimed at SATA 6Gb/s speeds, they aren't much faster than the G2s, something like 270MB/s reads and 170MB/s writes, if I remember right.

Mainly, the G3s are all about better reliability and lower price, they're supposed to be bringing the cost down to 1 GB/$, half of current SSDs.

Not at all, I'd take G3s over them any day. Not that I'll be getting G3s either, I'm pretty well set for SSD storage already.
