I have an ODE, sabertooth Z77 mb, and all of a sudden, all of my fans stopped working. I got nothing. There is a slight humming/buzzing sound, but none of the fans are turning at all. My fan control switch does nothing.

Luckily I have liquid cooled chips, but still not too excited to run any major games for fear of over heating.

Any reason all of my fans would stop working? Suggested fixes?

It's possible that the fan controller has burned out. If you are okay with taking off your side panel, you can try to follow the fan connectors from the front panel to their connections.

After unclipping them, try plugging them directly into the motherboard, see if that works.

Hi josephlee.... Does sound like a defective front fan control.   Mine died after a year and a half.   I did an RMA with Corsair , free, and replaced it, but it is a decent amount of work. Like was suggested, you can just plug them into the mobo.   You can also plug them into the psu harness behind right cover, but need a 3 to 4 pin pass through connector from Amazon, etc. and plug the fans into a 4 pin peripheral connector.

Remove the right side cover and you'll see the tangle of wires dropping down from the front/top. That's where front, top and rear fans plug in.   Maybe no top fan with 240mm rad mounted up there in your ODE 4, I believe.

I am not all that great with PC repairs. I will look for the "tangle of wires dropping down" and give it a whirl. Wish me luck.

Good luck.

Just trace the black wire from front fan, for example, to the wire harness hanging down from the top/front. Unplug it and run the wire to your motherboard.   On you Sabertooth mobo are cha_fan headers that you can plug your fan into. If they are 4 pin plugs, no worries, the 3 pin fan will plug into 4 pin mobo header. There are two cha_fan plugs on the bottom of your mobo, another on right side above the 24 pin large plug and another on the top. Your mobo manual, page 1.2.2 I believe, has a diagram to help out.

So I think I found where the front fan wire harness is....is the idea to plug that directly into my mobo and if that works, I will know its the fan controller? Do I need to do that with all the fans? The one in the back, and the ones on top? And can I just leave it like that, and not replace the fan controller? It was nice to be able to control them, but the thing barely lasted a year.

Correct.   Unplug the wire from each fan where it connects to the harness from the front fan controller and run it over and plug into the mobo.  If the fans work there, then for sure the fan control is dead.  You can leave them on the mobo, no problem, and not have to replace the fan control if you don't want to.

I am happy to report a successful "reinstall" of my fans. Apparently you guys know what you are talking about

Only bad thing is that there were only 3 fan port things I could use, but I have 4 fans. So I hooked up the front and rear, and then 1 of the top side fans. That make sense?

Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you, for your help. I was going to take it in to get repaired, which probably would have cost me $100's and days/weeks with no pc.

Great work.

If you want that other fan to work or an option for any case fan is to get a Cables Unlimited, to name one, 3 pin fan to 4 pin Molex adapter from Amazon.   About $5. It allows the fan to be plugged into a 4 pin Peripheral cable from your power supply. Behind the right cover should be a couple of extras you can use. A 3pin to 4 pin pass-through connector allows more than one fan per peripheral psu connector.

I do remember seeing the extra power connectors...system seems to be running well with the three fans. May look into this down the line if I upgrade graphic cards or get a 2nd monitor.

If its working then just sit back and enjoy the rig.    Big%20Smile

One question... do you have the 240mm radiator mounted to the top?   I thought you did, but not sure.   If so, and fans wiring don't go to the cooling block on the cpu, then check your cpu temps if only one of the two fans is working.   HWMonitor will check the cpu cores for you.  Better safe than sorry.

I have H20: Stage 2: Digital Storm Vortex 240mm Radiator Liquid CPU Cooler (Extreme-Performance Edition)

I do run a monitor and the only things that heat up during stress are the graphic cards that get to around 60 C. Everything else stays pretty cool.
