Topic: Cooling Fan Question Posted: 01 Jul 2014 at 1:10pm |
So I'm customizing a Virtue to suit my needs and I'm wondering about CPU cooling. I'm getting an i5 4690K 3.50 GHz Devils Canyon with the standard Intel Turbo Boost 2.0 automatic overclocking so is the AIR: Stage 1: High-Performance Copper Heat Pipe Cooler going to be enough to keep my CPU cool? I'm thinking it should be enough because my CPU isn't always going to be running hot because it isn't manually overclocked. What do you guys think? Should I upgrade to a liquid cooling system or would it be overkill?

If you're going with the standard overclock, it will be more than enough.

An aftermarket air cooler, like the Hyper212, should work fine. It's considered stage 1 air cooling by DS standards. Not sure what the Performance Copper cooler actually is, but it should work, even on a light to moderate overclock along with the Hyper212, etc.

Ok Nav. What if I go with the i7 4790k with standard overclocking. Will the
AIR: Stage 1: High-Performance Copper Heat Pipe Cooler still be more than enough?

As long as it's the crappy stock cooler that comes in the CPU box, you're fine.
Oh god that was so hard for me to do... I'm such an avid overkill person. |

Meller, I've never seen this side of you. Are you mellowing in your old, older, age?

No... I just realized that not everyone has the money to spend on the higher end stuff... and I don't want to make anyone feel bad for not having a huge budget.
It's hard for me... so difficult. :/ |
