When I press capslock, a message comes up on the screen and it causes a 3 second delay to type anything. How can I make it function normally with no message? I'd also like to switch the keyboard to be able to type French accents more easily, but that's another question.

Not sure what system you have but try going into Control Panel, Keyboard and disable the caps lock display message under Keys.
Hope it helps. |

Thanks, but I don't see that option. I have a krypton laptop. When I click on Keyboard in the control panel, I see two tabs, speed and hardware. Neither has that option.

Definitely call DS about this if you haven't by now. I don't have any delay when I hit Caps Lock on my Krypton and my keyboard has been going fine without issue for nearly 4 months now. Sounds like an issue for tech support.

I am having the same delay issue with my Krypton running Windows 8.1 that I received less than a month ago. I also do not have the feature that @bprat22 mentioned. The closest solution I have found was for Windows 7, but was to modify a registry file. There must be another way, because this delay is amazingly annoying.

I just want to tell everyone that I fixed this issue. There were 2 things going on. The main problem was that I accidentally checked some boxes in the control panel "ease of access center" that disabled my keyboard. I checked the boxes because my touchpad was going crazy and clicking things out of control. I realized it was because I didn't install the touchpad driver. I thought it came installed, but it doesn't. It came on a CD in the black binder called drivers.

Do you, by chance, remember where the option to remove the capslock/numlock typing delay was located?

Actually, I haven't figured that out. I'm trying to change my habit of using capslock and just hold shift instead.

OK. I finally got around to calling DS technical support. The annoying capslock/numlock delay is corrected by modifying the hotkey oem.ini file. Here's how they did it.
Local Disk (C:) > Program Files (86x) > Hotkey > oem.ini Change the "ShowOSD" value under [SupportStatus] from one to zero: Originally: ShowOSD=1 Corrected: ShowOSD=0 Save the file, and restart. I no longer get an on-screen display of "Caps/Num Lock On/Off" and the keyboard input no longer freezes. Problem solved!!! WARNING!!! Modifying files like this can be dangerous! If you choose to do it on your own, it is always recommended to save a back-up of any file that you are attempting to modify. Edited by stuntmonkey0 - 22 Sep 2014 at 3:05pm |

Strange. My ShowOSD=1 and I do get the overlay regarding CapsLock, but I've never had a delay with keyboard input. Wonder why it happened to you.
I'm going to keep mine at ShowOSD=1 as I do like the notices because with this Krypton keyboard layout, I find myself accidentally pushing CapsLock far more than in the past on other PCs. |
