I recently purchased a Bolt and its not overclocked. I am running the Intel Core i7 4770K processor with the ROG systemboard.
I decided to run Prime95 on it for the first time and after about 10 minutes, all 4 of my proc's were running at either 95c or 101c and it looked like it was still climging so i ended the test. Would like some advice. Wildstar pushes the temps to about 63c I just wanted to see if that is to be expected or should i open a ticket with help/support. Here are my specs. Prime95 is at the top of cpu stress testing, but those temps are still too high in my book.
What cooler do you have? Make sure the fan is working, no dust buildup in the small spaces behind the fan where the cooling fins are. Make sure the fans are on performance in the Bios. Sometimes they're tweaked down for lower noise. You can also try IntelBurnTest or OCCT to stress and compare temps. OCCT has its own monitoring or use HWMonitor for a second opinion for the others. Thank you for the suggestion. QFan is enabled on the proc and the chassis fans. The preset was set to standard, i changed it to turbo and it performed much better, now it took about 10 minutes using Prime95 to get the temp to 100c.
I want to try turning off qfan and see if that makes any difference, but right now my daughter is watching a movie on the apple TV so i can't reboot LOL thanks again for your reply. I updated my post with the specs. I am also using HWMonitor to get my temps. |
