Then I also ordered seperately off Amazon:

Samsung 28-Inch Ultra High Definition LED Monitor (U28D590D)

Cable Matters Gold Plated DisplayPort 1.2 to DisplayPort Cable 15 Feet - 4K Resolution Ready

Max Keyboard Nighthawk X9 Blue Backlit Mechanical Keyboard (Red Cherry MX)

Is this a decent setup?  I only went one GTX 980, it broke my heart I didn't have enough to afford an SLI system.

But it makes me wonder, is this going to run 4K at 60hz?  The Samsung monitor says DisplayPort 1.2 does it, and I think I have a good enough system not to need SLI?  I'm hoping I can still set games to max GFX settings and get away with it.

Anything I should watch out for with this setup?  Any advice would be helpful, thanks!

Hi redb2112... A single 980 won't play at max settings with 4k.   An sli at least is needed, and even then not all games will give you max.

To afford the second card, or at least help, I'd drop to 16gb ram, all gaming needs, drop the lighting and fan upgrade and drop noise reduction package. Drop the memory fan kit, really not needed. Now, all that stuff is really nice but if the budget is stretched I'd go for the performance first.

I'm on a tablet so can't compare the price savings compared to another 980. Still might not do it.

Also, do you need all the storage? A 256gb SSD and 1Tb HDD might help, but that's your call of course.

Good luck.

..and yes, even though you've place the order, should you wish to follow bprat's advice, you can call DS Monday morning after 9pst and discuss any changes or alterations.  They are very happy to make this experience the best it can be.

Cheers!

Hi redb2112,

As usual, bprat22 has given some good advise. If I was you I would put your system on hold until you sort out your requirements. You are going to be disappointed with that monitor and your system. There is no need to have such high resolution and not be able to use it to the fullest. If it was my system I would follow bprat22's suggestions or come up with more money. I would consider getting the 240 rad instead of the 120. The Velox has good cooling and you probable could get by with the 120 with a little higher CPU temp. Personally I want the CPU temp as low as possible. You might also want to step up to a 850 PS.

Frank
