Hi DustyRH... Welcome to the forums.
That is an excellent build. The only though is that you could save almost $300 by starting with level 2 and getting the I7-4770k with Z87 Sabertooth. But, that depends what level editing you do. Your build's 6 core cpu and quad channel ram helps with heavier video editing, Light Room, heavy multi-tasking, etc. Not much with games although some newer games are just starting to use more cores, but not a big difference in performance. It is in the budget so keeping the 4930k doesn't hurt. Nice rig you put together. |

I agree with what bprat22 said about the Ivy Bride-E (Extreme/Enthusiast) vs Haswell (Desktop) architectures. One additional difference is the support for the latest generation ports. The Extreme systems only have 2 SATA 6Gbps on the PCH (aka chipset) and no USB 3.0 though those are added with 3rd party chips.
It is a bit more, but you get a longer warranty with the 840 Pro 256GB over the 840 Evo 250GB. Performance differences will depend on your work load. Here is a review that shows them each in benchmarks: http://www.anandtech.com/show/7173/samsung-ssd-840-evo-review-120gb-250gb-500gb-750gb-1tb-models-tested. Thank you both for your input. The video editing is moderate and I'm not adverse to saving some money. Please check my configuration edit to see if I should tweak anything else. Thanks again!

That looks like a very solid build! All high quality components!
If you do think you are going to want a second graphics card in the future, I would bump the PSU to 1000W+. I would suggest with the 1050W Corsair HX of the 1000W Silverstone Strider. The Strider is 80 Plus Gold vs Silve for the HX. So, the Strider is the more efficient. Edited by danjw1 - 31 Mar 2014 at 12:01pm |

Changed to the Strider just in case I add the 2nd card later.
New code #942538. Thanks! |

As I mentioned above, I increased the power supply to 1000W. Now I am considering adding the 2nd 780Ti now instead of later.
Is everything else ok in the system with adding the 2nd card - cooling, etc. the way it is configured on code #942694??? I appreciate all of your comments. Thanks! Edited by DustyRH - 31 Mar 2014 at 7:53pm |

I think everything should be ok to add a second GTX 780i because they are both reference design cards that push most of their heat (if not all) to the outside of the case. If you want to be on the safe side you could for $30 more upgrade your cooler to the 240m radiator. That is what I did with my Slade so I could upgrade in the future and not worry about the smaller rad being overwhelmed.
Welcome to the DS Forums and I hope you buy a DS Slade. It is really a great computer. |

That might be better, since that would be mounted on the top, clearing the rear exhaust port. The rear exhaust fan is the only thing pulling hot air out of the case. It might also be a good idea to ask DS to up the rear exhaust fan to a 140 high airflow fan. Another thought is for less than the cost of the audio card you could probably get DS to special order the Maximus VI Formula rather then the Sabertooth. It has an isolated audio section, ROG armor (like the thermal armor of the Sabertooh), built in WiFi and other ROG features that would be nice to have. |

One quick note - adding a 240mm radiator will require opening the top of the case, which will let out more noise. It'll still be a quiet system, just not the maximum-quiet standard configuration. That said, I believe that opening the top or side is probably unavoidable if you want to go SLI. Two cards put out a lot of heat, even if you go with NVIDIA's excellent blower-style reference cooler on both of them. |

So if I have this correct, using the Slade and going with 2 cards I need 1000 watts, 240mm radiator, upgraded fans and I have to open one of the case sides Maybe 2 cards aren't worth it??? I'm getting confused. |

Actually, I wouldn't suggest covering the one exhaust outlet with a radiator for any build. You need someway to exhaust heat from the case. The other option is to go with an air cooler for the CPU instead. Edit: The Slade case is designed to offer flexible cooling. One option is to adjust it to the workload. Adding fans, but keeping the covers on for light workloads is an option. Asus motherboards come with a utility that can control the fans based on CPU temperature in software. With the utility you can control at what temperatures the fans start/stop and what the angle of the rpm curve is. Another thing to think about would be to add fan(s) to the left side panel ports, assuming those would face away from you. That motherboard has 8 fan headers and it is very easy to add them yourself (4 screws and one power line). Edited by danjw1 - 03 Apr 2014 at 12:09pm |

Congrats, and welcome to the family!
Let us know if you hit any snags - DS is pretty quick with their customer service, but you can often get advice here even faster, especially outside of business hours. I know I did when my Slade arrived and I was plugging my monitor in incorrectly... |
