I've had my Vanquish LVL 4 from Digital Storm for around a year now. Really love it right now I am using a 27" 1080p Asus monitor.
I'm looking to move to using 4k monitors. With my current specs (listed in my sig), would I be able to just go out and buy a 4k monitor and have it work well? And if not, what do I need? My motherboard is CF only so I wouldn't be able to SLI. So if it wasn't a great enough GPU (the GTX 770), then I would have to buy a new different card instead of a buy another. Also, I believe 4k requires the use of an HDMI 2.0 cable? I'm not near my desktop at the moment so I can't remember if the 770 has a slot for that. Also wanted to know how big of a difference it would be to power 2 4k monitors over just one. I would be wanting one from 27"-32" inches so I assume it would require a good amount of GPU power and just general power in general. Will my 600 watt PSU be enough as well? BTW I use my PC for mostly watching movies, work, and light gaming (for example Age of Mythology, Star Wars the Old Republic, and The Crew) |

Hi ben3350... The gtx 770 will run on a 4K, but will certainly struggle with any kind of graphics demands. 4K is equivalent to 4x 1920x1080 monitor. Very demanding.
You could swap the 770 for a single gtx 980, leaving your mobo and psu as is, and it would run everyday tasks and less demanding games just fine . But, for the more graphically demanding games, a sli 970 or sli 980 setup is really needed for decent settings and fps. For a sli 970/980 you'd need a new sli ready mobo, a minimum of a 750W psu and the cards of course. |
