ok, i did the repair.... now when it was all said and done it made another (i guess) account. Now I have 2 the old one and the new one. On both of these it didn't ask for any drivers or anything... it looks just like it did before. Now the new account, now this is weird. a lot of icons are missing, it reset my internet, it reset my zune program... now that I have to reconfig that. (no big deal). God I hope that the itune is ok, my wife would kill me. I havent located that icon yet... that is another one that is now missing from the desktop and to top all that off... It still shows that I have 1 core in the device manager and task manager.
SO my questions are to you is why did some icons go away? are sure it didnt delete anything? why did it make a new account when i can just go back to the normal account and do whatever...

I found Itunes. Under the new account itunes is just like a fresh new install. My wife needs to conect her ipod to it and update (I guess).. I dont really know itunes since I have a Zune. Oh and I didnt have to install anything... no bluetooth drivers, monitor drivers... everything is like it was before... I now just have 2 accounts. one that is reset and one that is the old one.. strange

by a new account you mean a new user account?
if you didn't have to install the drivers and etc, then you didn't do something right.
walk me thru what you did

OK don't do noting in the new one, that is the default admin acount that normally is not visiable, just keep using the old account.
now I'm not sure what happened but were you watching the whole process? or did you leave it and then come back and saw that it was done?

ok thats what I did or what the computer did. However... on step 5 where it says the computer will now adjust your screen... it didnt do that. it just went to the screen that said who will be using the computer.. it had (for choices) my first user account or i could pick one with my full name. I chose my full name one. now should of I picked my first user account name?

I was sitting here watching it through the whole thing. when the screen showed that it has 45 minutes I still watched it. a few times the screen went black and then came back on real fast. but I think thats just a part of the installing procress

OK I'm trying to make sure that during the repair at some point it didn't say there was an error and that its going revert everything back.
well I'm not sure what happened but we were not able to do a full repair, if we had all your drivers would have been deleted. for this reason, no changes were made and that includes anything to do with your core.
at this point your can try and flash the bios or reinstall windows and start fresh or just leave it and run on one core in windows.

ok, is flashing the bios harder and maybe dangerous? I hear stories that it can be hard (a lot of steps) and you may loose stuff. I dont want to do a fresh reinstal of windows. Thats why me and Mason (HM) did over the phone. Now I can just leave it alone and just upgrade my cpu... would that help? getting a new cpu

if the problem is with the cpu then yes a cpu upgrade would help, but if the problem is not with the cpu then a cpu upgrade will not help.
originally after the reinstall that you did with HM, did the 2 cores show then?

morning mason... its 9:15pm here.... :) Strange indeed. now with 1 core at 3.6 could that run FSX on ultra high on everything and still get 20-25 sometimes 30fps.. the only thing i can think of it might be because i have an OEM version of windows and I heard that the repair doesnt work in the OEM version... (I could be wrong) maybe Ill just get a quad core now and see if that fixes anything... :)

Actually, it should show a CPU Usage History for each core... For example, here is Task Manager on my quad core machine. For a dual core there would be two of those CPU Usage History boxes rather than four.

OK brian then it looks like the repair did work, however it did not fix the problem.
I'm not sure why you had problem installing last time, but normally it should not be like that.
before you try reinstall flash the bios as a last resort.
however, I want you to update windows all the way, make sure you install the mobo drivers I had you download on your desktop. and then see what is going on.

that definitely does not sound normal, perhaps because he is in another country the ISP setting were different? is that what you are talking about?

well I did all the windows updates (most of them were sercurity ones). Now I did replace the Vid drivers (which I didnt need to, guess those were still current.. didn't change) but I didnt replace the nobo drivers yet. Now how do you find out which mobo driver you have? This way I can see which one I have before doing all that. I just dont want to uninstall the internet drivers. Or Ill be calling Mason again.. LOL
Now that my computer is up and running. With 2 user accounts mind you... How do I get rid of that new one that was created. From the looks of it, its a copy of the first account, minus some icons on the desktop and it reset most of the programs. Meaning the internet went back to just like I installed it, also Itunes did the same.
I dont know if it was because Im over in Japan.. How do I check my ISP settings, and find out if they are correct. Im at work right now, so it wont be for awhile before I respond to this.
Again thanks again for all the help!

Well sounds like the repair worked brian, so your mobo should not have the drivers, you need to just install the ones on the desktop.
leave the other account alone, if you like once everything is back to normal I can show you how to have your PC just login to your account automatically

now under add or remove, it shows Nvidia drivers? Is that part of the mobo driver? I mean is it in there? I can install the mobo driver, but my worry is that when I did the repair it looked like nothing had changed. So to me, the mobo driver may still be current. I did install the same exact one that you gave me.. back when Mason (HM) and I did a full reinstall of windows. So is there a way to check to see what driver the Mobo has? I tried looking in device manager, but I really don't know what to look for (if its even there)
Now another question.... should I be using the old and not changed user account or should I be using the new user account (that the repair created) for all this. I went in the new account and reinstalled Itunes. Then I went in the old user account and there where 2 itunes icons. So I delected one since both worked the same.
Right now since everything is just how I had it before the repair, im using the original user account. With no problems.
Now back to the mobo driver... will this erase anything? or just install it.

as for which account, I already answered that for you, leave the admin account alone and use the original one. the admin account is like a master account.
as for your mobo drivers, your gpu drivers are also nvidia, can we get a screenshot of your device manager?
