What monitor will you be using for this gaming PC? What games do you intend to play? Regardless, I'd stick with Intel/NVidia. The Vanquish III is still within your budget. The i5 is a relatively big step up from the FX-4300.

Hi Yahoo_1,

I agree with Krudd about the level three. This would be your best bang for the buck. Take a look at this chart that shows benchmarks for the various levels of Vanquish systems. These are probably average readings and you can expect lower readings in parts of your games.

The sale can end at any time. If you are going to buy I would do it today to make sure you get in on the sale. The Vanquish doesn't qualify for any discount or free shipping. But you might get the extended warranty and a game. DS will have to clarify how the sale effects the Vanquish.

I agree with Krudd and Frank.   The more you can spend now the longer the gaming will meet your needs.   Another point easily overlooked....The level 1 has a 430watt psu, the others a 600 watt power supply.  Might make any video card upgrade in the future easier.

I can't speak for the others, but I usually look at the budget as just for the pc, unless they state otherwise.   If your budget includes ground shipping, the the level 1 or 2 is in your plans.   The level 1 will play pretty much any game the level 2 and 3 will, but just at lower in game graphic settings or lower frames per second.

Here's a link that shows different games at a typical 1920x1080 resolution on the monitor.  If your monitor is at 1600x 1050 then the fps will be higher because the pc has less work.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1044?vs=1043

The level 2 is about 40% better frames per second over the level 1.  Either will give you good gaming.

I was pretty much in the same boat. Looking for a sub $1000 machine that could handle the future upgrades I know I would eventually add to it.
I settled on the Vanquish 2 Level 3.
I have yet to receive it, its still in the shipping process but I can't wait to get it.
My main reasoning was the i5 and the 600w PSU, I knew with those two aspects I would be set for a good few years in the budget I have. I bought mine over the Black Friday -> Cyber Monday sale that DS had and I got a 5 Year warranty, which should easily cover the original lifespan of the machine as well as my first round of upgrades.
Also liked the fact that DS threw in the free game, other sites were requiring a specific GPU to get the deal and they were all cards more high end than the 760 I got, so that was nice.
Can't wait to fire up Far Cry!

I didn't factor in shipping in my budget, shipping is shipping, the PC is the PC, it had its own budget.
