Titan Black?

Thinking about upgrading from my 780? Any thoughts? Or I just might go up to the regular Titan..

Here are some performance increase results you can expect from your GTX 780 at 1440p.

Also, new driver updates have come out since this benchmark so i'm sure results are higher now.

Yeah, the move from 780 to Titan is barely worth it, but 780ti would be a decent bump.    Titan Black if you need the added vram.

I was even thinking... (as far as price) going to the 690?

The 690 is a dual gpu card, meaning sli.   Plus, the 690 is total of 4 gb vram, 2gb per gpu, so really a 2gb vram card since sli doesn't stack vram.

Ok, since I play COD:Ghost mostly... can I run the game with both GPU's? How do you do that exactly? I've never understood that. Is it something you enable within control panel of the video card?

Some have had problems with that game in sli in the past, but I don't know about now.

Nvidia Control Panel is used to enable sli.  With some versions, its the Maximize 3D option I believe.

I would stick with a single card like the 780ti.  Her's a link comparing the two.

http://www.anandtech.com/bench/product/1184?vs=1072

Some games run better with 690 and some games run worse.

gtx 780 ti is a lot less hassle.   The extra vram with 780 ti will help with higher resolution.   But, your choice.  Big%20Smile

Well, the company I bought the computer from wont offer the 780ti, just the 690. 2gig of ram w/690 should be fine for now? I don't know!!

I might just keep my current 780 and allow them to just offer me the upgrade from 8g-16g of ram

ps.. I bought my lap from DS over a year ago :-)

Don't know the particulars of your situation, but the 690 would be a decent step up from the 780, assuming no sli issue.  ..  You can use the link above to change the cards and see.

For gaming, the bump in ram from 8-16g might not be seen.

thanks bprat! My setup is in my signature below. I've notice that the 690 is faster than the basic Titan in the comparison (which is nice to know). I guess I can install the 690 and see what happens I guess. If I don't like... I'll put it back in the package and FedEx back!

Just remember that with newer games requiring 3+ GB of VRAM, that 2 GB per GPU on the 690 will be limiting.

Still... the 690 is faster than the Titan Black. Hmmm...be nice to even have the card for a good 8 months to a year and enjoy the performance and the option to go to SLI if needed?

OK... this is what I am getting extra

16GB Quad Channel DDR3 at 1600MHz (added 8 more)
1TB 7200RPM Storage
GTX 780 SLI(TM) (had to get the dual)

I figure, it's no extra cost to me... just them trying to keep my business.

They don't realize, my next desktop is coming from DS
