Still deciding on my build, would you say SSDs are worth the extra money? I was thinking about a 500GB SSD and a 1TB HD or just a 2TB HD to save money as I usually have a lot of games installed and a smaller SSD might not cut it for me.

Not all games benefit from being on an SSD, but the operating systems (OS) does. My recommendation is to configure one of the smaller SSDs -- at least 128 GB, maybe even 256 GB and install the bulk of your OS on the SSD. Add a good HDD such as a 1 TB Western Digital Black and load your games, libraries and other user files to the HDD. If space and budget permit, go for extra space on the HDDs. The files stored on HDDs have a way of "growing" over time so the extra space will postpone the day that you must upgrade your PC.

So just OS on the SSD, is that how most people go?

I can not speak for others, but that is the way my desktop rig is configured.

The only common exception that I am aware of are gaming notebooks.

I may just go with a 2TB HD then. Saves some cash and produces less heat than a SSD+HD setup. Thanks for your input.

Man that's crazy, I.m currently using 589GB, I don't think I could economize to the point where I could use a small SSD alone.

Today's world... I tell people the SSD is one of the most important performance upgrades you can get. I have more SSD's in my PC than I do mechanical hard drives.

Get the SSD. You won't regret it.
