After only about 200 hours of use my 06 60gb ps3 decided to croak. I was playing COD Modern warfare and it froze and then bam the unit would not read any disks.
So I call Sony and they tell me since my warranty is expired its going to be 150$ to repair. Even though they cut the production cost they still want to charge me 150$ fee to fix a 70$ problem. This is the last sony product I will purchase, terrible customer support and hardware longevity. This is definitely not my month though, my 360 just got the RROD about 4 days ago..Luckily for my sake sony and microsoft don't treat there customers the same.. The difference is microsoft stands behind there products unlike sony.. My xbox 360 is costing me 0$ to have fixed.. Moral of the story... Don't buy anything sony.. |

That sucks man... I just decided to say f*ck sony and take my 150$ and pocket it. Im not about to spend 150$ because sony refuses to stand by there products. I don't even watch blu ray crap anyways... What a waste of money the ps3 was lol..

i think mine over heated then burned up. I had been seeing some slow downs when playing games then one i was online playing socom and it just shut off then it would never turn back on. ended up being the yellow light of death which i never heard of before untill i utube it and my ps3 was doing the same thing. i havent played much on it since i got it back tho maybe later in the year when some better games come out. |

It's really sad, because the PS3 could have been really good. I was reading a breakdown online, and for most customers it's cheaper to simply purchase a brand new PS3. You can have a shoddy refurbished PS3 sent to you, or you can buy a brand new one from the factory. Considering the potential problems you MAY have, it's worth paying the extra couple hundred dollars to have a brand new warranty! |

huh? I spent $2300.
THAT beast I mentioned up there has components that aren't even released yet. For cost, I'd estimate around 10k or more. |

I lol'd.
I've had my PS3 since day one of release, Sony puts more effort into their products then any other console manufacturer. I lol'd when you also bitced about the $150 fee, remember, a PS3 has 10 times better hardware then the 360 does, it also has FREE ONLINE, and surpassed XBox Live in community. SONY IS TEH BAWM. |

Yeah i got a quick laugh, PSN is laughable against XBL, although you have to pay for it you get a more stable internet gaming experience. Oh yeah... i also got my PS3 fixed after a capacitor popped for the 3rd time but it was worth it since i also have the 1st generation PS3 which can still play my old PS2 games |

my ps3 just got yellow light of death again but i fixed it myself by using a heat gun on the motherboard now i dont have pay sony to fix it again. use heat gun to reflow solder joints around cpu and gpu then just add new thermal paste to them, reassemble ps3 and it should run again
