Don't be. The amount of blatant mishandling from the delivery company that would be needed to damage a Noctua or motherboard would be almost guaranteed to damage numerous other components beforehand.

You don't need to worry. We do add the internal foam mold to prevent such issues. We simply wanted the ODE to be a robust machine.

Alex,
You have done a good job with the ODE packages but why isn't there an optional warranty? If the parts DS has chosen are all reliable we should be able to add and pay for additional warranty coverage.
I looked at the packages and didn't see additional warranty so I hope I didn't miss it.

Valid point! I spoke with our team and we have unlocked the option to upgrade the warranty.

Love the looks and price of these. One thing I noticed on the stage 4 one. It has the high overclock, when you click to read more about it it says System Requirements
1. Recommended: Stage 3 cooling and above
2. Strongly Recommended: Liquid Chilled System

@coolmasta,
Thank you for pointing that out. More powerful cooling options are needed to overclock the X58 based platform, but, for the P67 based (Sandy Bridge) platform, liquid cooling such as the Corsair H60/H70 are more than adequate.

ok, so this might be a naive question. what would the difference in upgradeability be from the stage 3 version to the stage 4 version? say in two years from now?

The only difference between the two is a better motherboard and cooling. This allows us to push the processor higher. In terms of upgrade-ability, both are the same practically.

Very nice pre-built system; awesome value as well. I priced a mirror config of the high-end ODE model on Newegg and the DSO assembly cost is very reasonable, especially with the free over-clocking and other perks.
I like the white case quite a bit, but it would have been nice to see the black graphite case from Corsair as well, although that case doesn't have quite as many bells and whistles as this one.
Saw a few guys talking some smack on some of the other review sites forums about how they can build similiar systems for a lot cheaper; I had to shake my head. I'd rather just avoid the head ache of doing it myself, hoping I get everything in it's place, overclocking, and all of the other configuration stuff one has to go through. Not to mention having to RMA possible defective parts back to the distributor/vendor which wastes valuable time and money. DSO's 72 hour burn-in/testing takes care of a lot of these types of problems.
I think I might just scrap my original high-end DSO build I was going with and just save up for one of the ODE configs, likely one of the sli versions.
Sincerely,
Omnicide

You're quite welcome, Alex.
I have a couple of seemingly obvious questions, but wasn't sure if they've already been asked elsewhere in the forum.
1) For the 'Chassis Airflow' section on the ODE, I've noticed the mesh grill for the side door holds four 120mm fans. Are all four fans added?
Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans More Info
2) Are the latest drivers installed along with the Windows 7 operating system, and if so, what drivers are pre-installed?

Indeed the ODE looks really good...think I'm going to pleased I waited.
Just one concern: Alex, can you or anyone else comment on the reliability of the Seagate ST31000340AS drive? It has or had some issues apparently, or so I read. Thanks.

This particular model was discontinued at newegg some time ago, apparently after all of the problems starting happening.
I have a Seagate Barracuda 120gb hard drive that's lasted me almost 6 years with no issues or bad sectors, and I realize that there are occasionally bad batches of hard drives, but this raises a red flag.

@Omnicide, 1. The chassis does come with the optional mesh grill for the side panel, but, that does not come with additional fans. 2. We do install the latest drivers that we approved for all of the hardware inside the system. Windows will come with SP1, and there may be a few updates that Windows will automatically do when you receive the system. @BandGap, That was an older revision which had the issue. The drives we are using do not have this issue.

I don't believe teh extra 4 fans that go on the mesh side grill come with the system at all even in retail.
If you want to keep system quiet and get the airflow try adding 4 of these:

You are correct, the retail case does not come with the extra side panel fans, that's why I was wondering if DS added them to the ODE config. The pic was a little confusing on the component list.
I really like the Nexus fans though, and the white-and-black theme would look quite appealing on DS's ODE model.
Here's a link to some budget fans; they aren't as good as the Nexus fans, but if your budget is tight, they aren't too bad of a deal:

Thanks for the answers on everything, Alex, especially the Seagate hd issue.
I figured DS would be using an updated model by now, but just wanted to be sure.

After looking over all 4 tiers for the prebuilt ODE configs, I think the tier 2 build is right in my ball park.
It's the $1999 model with the upgraded motherboard, blue-ray player, Intel 80gb ssd, and an additional geforce 560 ti gpu for sli.
I would add an HT Omega Claro audio card and two to four 120mm fans to the side door.
I wish I had it now, but I'm still saving.

Those coolmaster fans are louder and not as much airflow as they say they are.
Keep in mind for 1900 x 1200/1080 res, sli 570 is the best option, taking into account future needs.

wish me luck. I decided to pull the trigger on the stage 3. I had posted some questions about builds in another thread and with all the help there and the comments in this thread. I am definitely impressed with the price range of this rig. its also inspired me to do lots of research. I think this will give me the bang for the buck I am looking for. just out of curiosity. am I the first to admit in this thread to pulling the trigger on a stage 3?

Thanks for the heads-up, DST; I kinda figured you might say that.
It sounds like stage 3 with the dual 570's would be the way to go.

I'm looking to get my first gaming PC, and the level 3 looks like what I'm going to buy in a few weeks! I have some questions though. 1. Is the H60 set up on delivery to pull cool air from outside the case or to expel hot air out of the chassis? 2. I know Alex said earlier no customizations, so that would mean no possibility of blue internal lighting? 3. So the warranty of the PSU is 5 years, but if I choose the 3 year DS policy, and the PSU breaks after 4 years, what would I do? 4. And finally, for how long will the 10% discount last? I'm not currently able to order, but I want to in less than a month. Sorry for all the questions... Just trying to learn before I do business with DS (which I am looking forward to )!

The ODE is definitely what I call a 'stealth' computer: inconspicuous on the outside, but very dangerous looking on the inside:

@lykranian,
Thank you for choosing Digital Storm!
1. It will depend on the configuration, but, as of right now, our team has been testing builds with both the air pulling from inside as a pull configuration and also from outside as a push configuration. Both have seem to be the same.
2. Sorry, our back-end won't allow us to make changes to the configuration.
3. You will have to contact Corsair directly to obtain a replacement. They should be more than happy to help.
4. From what I've heard, we're planning to remove the 10% discount messaging on our site within 1-2 weeks.

By messaging do you just mean the banners and things? Or will prices raise as well? Cause it would impact mypurchase too. The level three fits my budget and wants, but with raised prices I'd need to go level two :(
I was just asking about the rad because my desk is situated so computers draw cold Seattle night air in through a cracked window. :)
I'm also curious about the impact of lifespan for the processor when overclocked.

Alex, will you do a version of the ODE with more customization options at a later date? I think that would be perfect!

@lykranian,
I believe it may just be the banners, and that we're sticking the current pricing. The CPUs will last a couple of years, well beyond any upgrade you would consider in that time.
@I'm-Mitch, nope, we can't, or else we wont able to offer the ODE at the aggressive pricing that we currently have it set at.

Assuming the guys at DS did not want more than four configurations for the ODE, I think there is a case to be made for going with just one of the two SLI 570 setups, and then targeting a price point between the current stage 1 and 2 for a single 570 setup. That makes more sense, IMO.
It FEELS like there is a case to be made for trying to hit a budget price in the $999-$1299 range. I just don't think there is a way to do that reasonably and still showcase Digital Storm in the same way the current ODE's do. So bravo on even getting a 2600k machine with DS advantages to $1499.
My selfish want for the ODE value per dollar makes me wish there was an option that did not include a graphics card at all. For me personally, my need for a new graphics card always seems to be separate from my need for a new PC. That said, I know that having a pre-built system not function out of the box makes no sense. I just wish it did make sense.

Here you go Ticket# 566066 --- $1364 (To see this build click here)
$64 over your budget but no gpu as you requested. price can be lower if we sacrifice cpu power.

Oh, no sorry, my post wasn't referring to my own personal budget. It was meant more as general observations on the ODE systems and pre-built systems in general. I am still four months or so away from my next PC, and my budget won't be set until then.
The lower budget option comment was just pointing out how, normally, one would expect to see an option try to fall in that price point. At the same time, my comment recognized that to stick with a 2600k build with that case it just isn't workable to hit the lower budgets because they value is already top notch.
Thanks for the builds though. If I get overly spendy on other things leading up to my PC purchase I may well end up in that budget range.
