I tell you it is really exciting waiting for my dream machine!  I am using the wait to get my computer area ready for the beast when it arrives.  My wife had me throw out the old cruddy desk and replace it with a three sided corner plate glass desk that will highlight the new machine.
 
I am very happy that the wife, kids, and grandkids are getting anxious for it to arrive.  This is intended to be a family machine that we will all enjoy!  That is if I unlock the door to the computer room when it arrives. Embarrassed

Getting close now for those of us in the build queue!  But to be honest with you,  I am actually very pleased to wait any amount of time to insure that DS has the time to do the job right and send a stable machine.  I am just looking forward to being one of the many happy satisfied DS customers that are using their new screaming dream machines.
 
I love the video on the DS site that shows them going through all the testing steps and the dudes in white coats looking really pro.  I play that video often to remind me how important it is to not rush something that is so critical as the vital tests that they perform.
 
With all that said, I still am excited as hell to be getting my new machine shortly.

bahh talked to James today and apparently my PC had some problems over the weekend and they are changing out some components. I should have asked what it was, but they say it should ship by end of the week, calling early thursday to know my OC speed and if the EVGA cards are still in there. O well I am getting very very anxious and cannot wait for it get here Heart

I have been able to resist calling so far.  Sorry to hear about the failed components but better there than in your home.  It makes me wonder about mine but I am going to try to resist calling.  I am also hoping that it ships by the end of the week.
 
I have been able to keep occupied planning a 30th anniversary for me and the wife at the end of March.  We never had a honeymoon nor a trip without the kids.  With the economy in the tank, the vacation prices are almost half price compared to a few years ago.  Right now we are talking about going to Puerto Rico.  I have been to both Jamaica & Puerto Rico before and the prices are unbelievable now.
 
As long as you have a job and think you can keep it for a while, prices on everything are pretty good.  But if you lose that job it can be a real bear.  I am going to get my dream machine and honeymoon at about the same time.
 
I am a little paranoid since when I went to Jamaica about 15 years ago and spent $4,500 I got laid off the week after I got back.  That was a real drag!  But having survived that 10% lay off last week I decided to live a little while the times are still good at least for me.

NICEEEE!!!! Well if you were in Canada I would suggest going to Cuba, my cousin went there for her honeymoon and she said it was absolutely amazing there. Other than that I think its awesome, I plan on sending my parents on a cruise or somewhere really nice as a retirement present for my dad Ouch

Actually I hope the relationship between the US and Cuba improves quickly.  I recently read a good book about Barcardi and Cuban history.  I would love to travel to Cuba and see this beautiful country for myself.  I imagine it will not be long now that we have a person in the White House that really wants to get along with people that are willing to extend a hand of friendship to us.

Stage 5 was the toughest for me.  I actually got two Stage 5 notices a few days apart.  This is the stage that they do the deep stress tests to be sure that you receive a machine that will work right out of the box and be a joy to own and use!
 
Once you get past stage 5 it is a piece of cake.  But be thankful they are taking the time to be sure that if a failure occurs that it happens at Digital Storm and not when you boot it up the first time ready to load your favorite game.

bahh I called to check and see whats going on Sarah told me the RAMs are not playing nice and they are trying to stabilize my system at the moment. I hope it ships within next week.....oh well I waited so long whats another few days, I would just like to get it before end of Feb so that I can enjoy it during my week off Ouch

Really sorry to hear about the RAM issue.  But I am sure that you are grateful that the RAM is being contrary there and not when you boot up at home.  The wait had been a drag for me also.  I feel pretty lucky to be at Stage 7 and expect it to be shipped in a day or so.
 
I noticed that there is some kind of GTX 295 shortage and people are having machines held up out in the market.  I am glad they had one for me and I hope it is a good one that doesn't need to be sent back for some reason.
 
I wouldn't think that a RAM issue would take too long to resolve.  But I know that even a couple day delay is really hard to go through when you are waiting to use the new dream machine.
 
Pretty soon we will both have our new machines and we will be able to just watch the other people suffer through their waits on the forum.  Maybe even tease them with an occasional screen print of a benchmark or a picture of the machine in the den.
 
Take care and I hope the delay will be short and your machine get stabilized and headed your way in a few days.

Thanks OK, yessss thankfully it went wrong there, if anything happens to the PC when it gets here my brother will give me hell haha Ouch Its the wait that always kills, but seriously I cant wait for you to receive yours so that we can see some pics and benchmark scores. I was doing some additional research on the 295s, they are crazy, I mean at 1900x1200 everything almost hits 100fps which is absolutely crazy. I think this system will last me LONG LONG while, so I am not really that worried about it getting here anytime soon, but just would like it before end of Feb, have my march break then and will have time to fool around with it a bit.

BTW are you thinking about the back plates for the 295s, I will most likely be getting them. From initial tests it shows that there can be a decrease in temps from 8-10 degree C, for $20 that is a good deal I would say, and I plan on OCing my GPUs a bit so it should be good Ouch

And remember before you do anything on your new machine, pictures and benches for us waiting folk are a mush Ouch
