Topic: TF2 Sever? Posted: 24 May 2008 at 5:38pm |
I now love TF2 (thanks to everyone here telling me I was crazy for not having it) but am sick of the few good servers I play in always being full (now I know why) and getting stuck on ones with a bunch of 12 year olds and idiots.
Being Saturday night, I suppose some of you will be on and I was thinking that since DSO still has no server, a bunch of us could find a server to team up on together. At least I figure you guys are serious about gaming and having a team or you wouldn't be thowing down serveral grand on the best gaming rig money can buy.
Anyway, let me know here, or in Steam, my ID is CPLICEHOLE.

Ah, Duke, now I have lost respect for you.... Stinking sniper!!!!!!!!!
As for me, I am Pyro 98 % of the time and only switch to other classes if it is needed. Sadly, I am a team player and spend much time on defense or clearing the way for others to score for the team, move the cart or to save the documents. I have spent hours sitting in the Intel room with and engineer just guarding the breifcase!
Points on the board are nice, but, damit, I want to win!

I'm a run and gun player. My most played class is the Soldier [70 hours!] with Demo-man next. I don't honestly care for points or kill:death ratios, some clowns are all about that though. These clowns are usually CS players too. My ratio is always usually in the negative.
This particular map was CONVOY, its a fun map. And I caught BFRANK trying to snipe [too] camping all the way in the back of the convoy train. I got him good though.

So, I looked at the TF2 trailers and Valve's sight and TF2 looks cool, my question is, is there a 1 player computer controlled bad guys mode that lets you learn the game, never having played or am I playing online with a raftload of experienced killers making me into hamburger constantly until I learn? :)

Duke, you should work in advertising....
What this screenshot doesn't show you is that Duke had been in the server for 2 hours with that score, and I only joined several seconds before he took the screenshot. Shame on you Sir!
And like I said before, the ONLY reason I was sniper was because of my anal retentive compulsion to keep all classes at the same amount of playing time. As much as I don't want to be a sniper neither do I want to play 98% of my time as a soldier - too easy.
I hope this is a lesson in critical thinking for all of you in just who you can and can't believe on this forum....

I'm anxious to play TF2 on my DSO machine when it arrives. Is Portal and Half-Life 2 worthwhile in the Orange Box or should I just go with the stand alone TF2 for half the price?

Portal won PC Gaming Mag game of the year for 2007 it is a short puzzle style game. very cool, but only perhaps 2 or 3 hours play to run from start to finish according to PC Gamer.
Half Life 2 is cool also, but if all you really want is to play TF2, which is what a lot of people want the TF2 single pack is likely best.

Although the graphics are now a bit dated, but still amazing, HL2 is probably one of the very best FPS games there is. Good story line and great game play. You actually feel like you are part of a mission and not just running and gunning.
You will love this game if you like shooters.
