When I finally order my pc I'm probably just going with a large standard hard drive anyway, but would you say SSDs run hotter?

SSDs run much, much cooler. They'll use around 3-4 Watts when active and idle below 0.1 Watts.

Ah, nice to know, just asking as I've seen a few posts around the web about them running ridiculously hot.

That info is bogus wherever you're getting if from. The "hottest" SSDs I've seen are the ones that plug into the PCIe slots on the board and have PCIe-to-SATA bridges, RAID switches, and multiple NAND controllers; they'll be active around 20-25 Watts and idle down in the single digits.

Thanks. I'll probably still go with a larger standard HD as game sizes get more and more space consuming and I'd rather not have to calculate when I should uninstall things. If I had a SSD I'd want to run my games off of it for the faster load times and not just have the SSD for the OS install.
