So my system is on stage 4 (and I'm freaking excited) so I figure I'll pass the time by asking questions which are probably obvious but I should ask anyway.

I got the MAXIMUS VII HERO by Asus which boasts native 7.1 ROG SupremeFX Audio but I also got a Creative Sound Blaster Z card because I wanted dedicated audio.

My question is, should I plug my headphones and microphone to:

The motherboard

The sound card directly

or the inputs on my computer case (CM Storm Stryker)

Not sure!

To use the sound card, you'll need to use its own outputs.  If you plug into the motherboards audio on the back then you're on the Hero's audio.

Most sound cards do have a front panel audio connector on the sound card itself, inside the case where it mounts, to connect the sound card to the front panel audio of your pc case.   Not sure if DS sets it up that way, but my guess is they leave the front panel to the mobo.

Not sure about the compatibility of the front panel plug to the mobo and the sound card.  That you'd have to look into.

Hope this helps.   Big%20Smile

You're always helpful man, I appreciate it :)

Sound card it is.  Makes sense when you think about it but I wasn't sure.

I'm not even sure if the sound card will provide higher quality audio than the motherboard at this point.
