Hi,
I was looking at either the Slade or Apollo level 3 desktop.
They are a little above my budget by a few hundred. For what I'm using a computer for, will the i7 make that much of a difference over the i5 Processor? Should I go with the level 2 and upgrade the hard drives and up the memory to 16?..or just try to scrape up the extra cash and go with the level 3 as is?
I like the reduced noise of the Slade, but what I really need is the most power for the least amount of money and be able to upgrade over time.
Thanks!

Budget:
[2000 - 2200]

Usage:
[Graphic Design, Adobe Creative Cloud, 3D Modeling/Animation, Video Editing, Audio Recording]

[Budget!]

Hi Carr77,

Did you look at the Vanquish level 4? If you are only interested in gaming the OC 4690K CPU will do the job for you. The Vanquish will save you a bunch of money and you can upgrade to 16Gb of memory and still be ahead. We have a lot of active members using the Vanquish level 4 with good results. It definitely is the most power for the least money.

If you really want a custom Apolo or Slade we can help you with that.

Slade or Apollo is personal choice.
You can configure both virtually the same other than case.

I5 vs I7: The I5 is fine for gaming. The I7 would figure in as best for number crunchers, engineers, designers, video making and editing, etc.

With my lil Vanquish I was able to overclock it to 4.7Ghz and score higher than people with the I7 5930 and my GTX 970 came in much better than titans.

Pick what you want and can afford and go with it.

Go with a good P/S, motherboard and cooling and either machine at either level - 2 or 3 - would be fine.

Do a configuration and post the configuration number here and we can get into specifics.

Thanks for the replies! I'm definitely going with DS.
I'm not really doing any gaming. Mostly Photoshop, Corel Draw, Illustrator, After Effects, Premiere, Lightwave, Modo, audio stuff like Reason, ect.
I looked at the Vaquish options, but it doesn't seem to allow you to upgrade. I think I'm going to go with the Slade. Just not sure what motherboard to go with. Does any of this look unnecessary for my use?
Thanks again!

Hi Carr77,

Nice build. The Sabertooth is a good motherboard choice.

The only other thing would be the 750 Power Supply you have chosen. I would get the 750W EVGA SuperNOVA power supply for $30. That would give you a PS with a 10 year warranty instead of 5 years.

I just took another look and saw that you had 16Gb of memory. You might consider getting 32Gb for your intended use. I haven't looked at those programs for a while but some of them use to be memory hungry. If you don't have enough memory the program will swap out from the HDD. Definitely don't want that to happen. It all depends on your use. If you are not doing it as a business you should be OK with 16Gb. I would visit on line each software you intend to use. They all list requirements for using there software. Maybe someone here has some experience they can share. Just do your homework and you will be OK. You always can add more memory if you find that 16Gb is not enough. I just don't want you to be disappointed because someone didn't mentioned the memory.

Going with the build above, but with the supernova. Will upgrade the RAM down the road. Looks like a great company and community. Thanks to everyone for your time.
