Based on Nvidia's track record, no one can say for sure. They'll be out though, and hopefully worth the wait

Yea, who knows. They rushed out with the 4xx series and it was not very good. Rushing to catch up with AMD. Fortunately it didn't take long to get the 5xx series out. A way better card than the 4xx in my opinion.

I would guess that the HDD price wont go back down until the demand goes back down. As long as people are paying the higher price that was caused by the floods, why drop the prices?... At least that is my thought on the situation.

I think bprat22 was saying he hasn't bought a new HD yet, but when he does the prices will drop the day after .
I've been monitoring the prices as well, I think they may have gone down a little bit (few percentage points), but nothing significant. I want to build out a 2 drive NAS, but I'm waiting for the prices to drop as well.

Yep, I was kidding. Thanks sdwas. It's like always missing a sale, you buy today and the next day prices drop 30%. When you have to explain a joke......

What I'm wondering is how the retailers can get away with the price gouging that's going on. Across the board the manufacturers have increased prices by 20-30%, which is understandable. Why then have prices from retailers gone up 50-150%?

My guess is 1.) Greed, it can always been traced back to this. Its the foundation of our market system and 2.) Original parts manufacturer raises their price 20%, as does drive manufacturer, the primary distributor, the secondary distributor, the regional distributor, then the retailer itself. Ultimately leaving the customer with far more than a 20% price increase.

Of course this happens when we need to buy 20+ server drives. From what I have seen people are predicting the prices won't start going down until early 2013.

Yep these things always seem to pan out that way. Based on what I know of the current Asia/Pacific indexes, I would not be surprised if those predictions turn out to have a least some validity.
