[QUOTE=Alex]@Rexxaran, within 2 days we will offer a few Sandy Bridge laptops.
Alex,
I have a laptop on hold and want to get the top of the line Sandy Bridge Processor based laptop instead. When will you offer the cream of the crop in Sandy Bridge Laptops? With *ahem* the GTX 485M.

yes it does let you, but the 570 is a better deal for the performance.

Ah my bad. I see it now. Btw why does DSO not list the 2600K in the best category on the Configurator. The best one still lists the 950, 960 and 970 etc. Does this mean that these 1st generation processors are better than the 2600? Seems odd since the bechmarks say 2600 is the fastest of them all.

Are you saying a 2600K is slower than a 950 for instance? That does not look right looking at the specs.

Clevo has been changing the ETA for them. The latest update is by the end of this month.

The X58 platform is still the best platform for high-end configurations. It supports full 16x PCI-E slots for SLI, triple channel memory, six-core CPUs, and the 980X. Sandy Bridge (The P67 chipset) is a great performer when overclocked nevertheless.

Alex, the digitalstormonline.com front page still has the 10% off offer with FREE overclocking, but in the configurator, despite there being a gift icon next to "CPU Boost" overclocking options for Sandy Bridge, there are two "Stage 1" options (shouldn't the liquid cooling one be "Stage 2"?) and the first one isn't free as expected. Is this an error?

@Torley, the Sandy Bridge configurations are now default with a free overclocking item. Also, yes, the higher overclock package has been renamed to 'Stage 2.'

Alex,
This probably isnt the thread for this but I ordered my SB build 24 hours ago and also noticed the Free Overclock Level one was not placed in my configuration. Will this still be offered to my build.
I sent an email making this request to the sales group and included my order number.

Bad news on the Sandy Bridge front. Intel identified a chipset error with Sandy Bridge. Specifically, there are performance problems with the Intel SATA controller. In a sense, I'm glad I waited to upgrade to Sandy Bridge (I'm still running a Core 2 Quad Q6600). Speaking of which, I'll likely ask about some system configurations sometime in the next few months.

Intel has a revision coming in a month that will fix this. We're looking at around early March when we would have the revised motherboards. In the mean time, if you really do want a Sandy Bridge system now, we can install your hard drive(s) on the SATA 3 ports which are unaffected by the issue.

Correct. We're figuring out what we're going to do about this. This is something that just developed today.

Alex, does this also effect laptops employing the sandy bridge? I was all set for the 2920XM chip.

Well, if I can fit my setup on the 3.0 ports and be fine, then thats okay with me. An SSD, HDD, and the optical drive. If it can be built around the issue using 3.0 ports and a motherboard has enough for my setup (3 ports) then I will continue with what I had planned and order the Enix build tonight.
As I said in another post, I am in need of a system now and am prepared to order something that suits my needs one way or another no later than tomorrow morning. I would like the Enix if it can be done. If not, I will search for alternatives tonight.

IF I'm not mistaken, for the p8p67 (not pro or other models) you get 4 6GB sata ports and 4 3GB sata ports.
if that is correct and all the 6GB sata ports don't lose any perfomacne if they are all being used, then its not that big of a deal for people that don't need that many sata ports.

The SATA 3 ports all work perfectly fine. It's just the SATA 2 ports.
The issue also appears to be with the Sandy Bridge laptops too.
Please continue the discussion there.
