Well only reason I asked is because with that socket you can get or upgrade to a 8 core, not sure if that is important to him or the pc is only for like web surf/email and light stuff like that.

We don't know for sure what future CPU's will be offered for 1155 yet. Big%20Smile
For that price, no-brainer take the SB now and enjoy it.

Look at real comparisons, not from some yutz that does not know  to get tri-fire to scale in 3D mark 11.. LOLLOL
And don't tell me that a quad core VS dual core does not effect scaling.. come on that is just crazy talk.

The SB platform uses the PLX differently than past boards, and so far from what I have seen, it does great with 1 card, in most cases beats X58 with 2 cards.  One thing I have seen, is that it scales better with CPU speed than the other Intel platforms.  Gaming improved going from  4.2Ghz, to 5.1Ghz, when the X58 made little to no gains for most games.

Also Dragoonseal should like this,  you can use the 2, 6Gbs SATA's and RAID with the 3Gbs, and it is bootable!  seen close to 900Mbs so far off the PCH..!!

Justin,

Can you forward a link to info on this PLX chip? I'd like to better understand its impact on the PCIe performance.

I'm considering triple-1080p (6 megapixels). Will the scaling carry over to dual 595s, or should I stick with dual 570s?

the GTX 595 is not out yet, and should be just a little under the power of dual 570's.. I would not suggest getting a dual card like the 595.
The PLX implementation on Sandy Bridge is different than how it has been done in the previous boards. I had a bunch of pics showing the PLX differences on P55 to P67, but not finding them ATM.  Upset
If you want to run dual 570's, with or without the PLX, it will be very similar in performance.   the PLX boards are about 100$ more.
My sandy bridge motherboard does not have the NF200 added to it, and I will only be using one card, and two card setups on it, I really doubt the boards with the PLX will be much better with 2 cards.  3 cards for sure.. lol but since this is brand new tech, there are a ton of unknowns at this point.

Right, but dual 595s, if they scale properly, should trounce dual 570s. Question is, will they scale. How did the 295s scale in dual mode?

I have dual 295's   quad -SLI, they scale very poorly.

It is all up to the budget, 3 GTX 580's for high resolution gaming will be the best, 3 6970's will also do very well, the added RAM will help at that resolution on a couple games,  using the highest settings.
3 GPUs, will mean a lot more heat, a larger power supply, and either a X58 chipset, or Sandy Bridge with a PLX.. price goes up fast . lol

Ya stay away from dual gpu cards, quad scaling is still not as good as tri scaling.

As justin mentioned you will get better results from tri sli 570/580/6970.

Yes, mmm. Still, I want more, rawr. Hopefull X68 will improve on this even more and at the very least offer all 6Gb/s ports. Where to go from there I wonder? Maybe they should start incorporating a way for us to add a storage specific DRAM cache. Hahaha

We're adding them to our website today before the end of the day. We've been fine tuning our Sandy Bridge offerings to provide our customers with the highest overclocks and the best component selections.

Hi

I plan to play around with the Sandy Bridge configurator but not serious about getting a SB desktop on the near future---I got a rockin' X58 set from DS about half a year ago, so I don't see a need.

Still, the SB laptops otoh I'm looking forward too; I might actually buy one this year (just so I can run WoW/SC2 during trips).  Most companies including mainstream ones already have their SB laptops out, now I just need to wait and see what DS has to offer.

They should be up by 12:00PM (Tuesday). We're waiting to hear about some BIOS updates on a few of the Sandy Bridge boards.

Will the laptop offerings also updated on the Configurator? I have a laptop on hold because of the sandy bridge release and am anxiously waiting to play with the Configurator.

Also when will the 485M be available?

Nice to see the new hardware up.

You have the 2500K listed as i7 2500K.

Shouldnt that be i5 2500K?

@Rexxaran, within 2 days we will offer a few Sandy Bridge laptops.

@avatar72, thank you for the heads up. I let the team know and they have corrected it.

@Invader Mig, which board were you looking for?

Well the MSI GD55 is priced the same as the ASUS P8P67 and has its 16x slots running at 8x for dual card configs. The Asus board only runs at 16x/4x. If you want sli or crossfire as an option you either have to chose a micro board, which eliminates the use of all other slots, or go with the most expensive board of the bunch. Just seems like the GD55 offers a nice middle ground.

I'll ping the team to see if we can add it.

UPDATE:
We won't be offering MSI products yet on the configurator, but, if you would like that model, get in touch with us and we'll special order it for you.

I cant wait to see what magic DS pulls in their laptops with Sandy Bridge. Always count on DS to build the best Desktops and Laptops in the world at the fraction of the price and 10 times the quality of its competitors. Cant wait to finally buy a DS laptop this summer.

So if I understand this correctly, I should still get 8x video performance on the ASUS deluxe in crossfire using two slots?

Why aren't you guys offering the Intel Core i7 2600K CPU with the GTX 580 video card in your desktops? It doesn't seem there is a way to do that in the Configurator.
