I have, though only with the "Complete" mods installed. 
My Two Digital Storm Rigs: Mr. Bojangles (HAF-X, 2010) & Mrs. Bojingles (Bolt I, 2013).

I honestly  can't say, but the person who originally recommended it to me loved it without mods. I just installed the "Complete" mods because they updated the textures and allowed support for my monitor resolution, they don't change the gameplay immensely or anything.

Best games ever. COP the best of the lot. Complete makes them better but not nessisary. Metro is the latest by some of the same people. Not as good, not at sandbox, but still worth a play.
