I was devastated when I heard this today.
I started watching Star Trek when it first came on in 1965. Nine years old then. I fell in love with Spock and Leonard Nimoy of course. In 1970 I got to see Mr. Nimoy in person. He was Paris then of Mission Impossible. I got to shake his hand and talk to him. He was very nice and gracious. Didn't get an autograph. In 2011 I was going to go to a Star Trek convention in Las Vegas. Had bought tickets to see Patrick Stewart, Kate Mulgrew(my fav Captain) and get autographs etc. But also bought a ticket to have Leonard Nimoy talk about his photography which I have enjoyed over the years. And like all things in life a tragedy happened and I missed the trip. I WILL always regret that. So in honor of Mr. Nimoy. BEI MIR BIST DU SHAYN! And "Lang leben zolt ir" in our memories. I GROK SPOCK |

Grew up with Spock the character as my role model, another kid who really didn't fit in anywhere. I still hold that character in higher regard than most real people, even with his flaws.
Was lucky to meet Leonard Nimoy the man in person once in the early 90's and briefly let him know what his work meant to me. I've followed his career and really marveled at the breadth of it and his ongoing dedication not just to acting, but to people. The man will be missed, and the character will live on for many, many years to come. He was that good a character. |
