Budget:
<4000: desktop computer only Expectations: I expect to upgrade or go with an SLI in 3-4 years. While I currently am only using one monitor (will be updating to an 24 inch , 1080p monitor soon), I am also considering to expand to dual monitors. Usage: I will primarily am using this computer to play current gen and upcoming games on high or ultra settings. Games I play are: Dragon Age: Inquisition, Starcraft II, Battlefield 4, Titanfall, Guild Wars 2, and upcoming shooters, RTS, and MMOs. I will surf the web frequently, with plenty of tabs and windows up. Lastly, I will watch a lot of movies and videos. Special Needs: I want a compact chasis without compromising on space inside for additional upgrades in the future. I'd like it to be not too heavy as I sometimes LAN with friends if that makes a difference. I want it to be quiet enough so that I can't hear it when I have headphones on (non-noise isolating and volume is at low, non-deafening levels). Notes: I browsed around the config forum to try to tailor it to my tastes. However, as I don't actually have much technical knowledge outside of what I've read I would like someone to provide some feedback. Anything on the the compatibility and necessity of my selection and if there is something better within my budget. I don't plan on using any additional peripherals beyond my current corded gaming keyboard and mouse, headphones, and mic. Thank you kindly in advance. Hi Barshao.... Welcome to the forums. That's a real nice build but I would change the gtx 780ti to the gtx 980. The 980 is a stronger card, uses less power and less heat. Plus, it has features in its architecture future programmers will use for added visuals, a lighting feature being one of them. The 780ti is more money because of the older design not because it's better.
The Apllo case, the Corsair 760t, isn't a compact case or light. You can select More Info under the case to see it's dimensions and weight. It is a real nice case so up to you. The 1050hx psu is excellent but the EVGA 850 also is and is all you need for even sli 980. Hope this helps and good luck. |

Thank you for the welcome and the feedback, bpratt. I've adjusted per your suggestions and will look into the chassis. I do love the aesthetic look of the Apollo though so I might keep it, especially after a cursory glance at the available options.

I agree with bprat22's comments. Also, the motherboard does not support the RAM you chose at it's XMP profile (Sabertooth only supports up to 1866 MHz). The sound on the motherboard should be excellent and not need an independent sound card. And as for the chassis: same as what bprat22 said, but I'll add that the plastic windows are prone to scratching, so it you are carting it around to LAN parties, don't be surprised to see it getting scratched up.
I put together a configuration below. If you really want a volume knob for your headphones, since I changed the motherboard to the Maximus VII Hero and the Corsair 760T case has an additional two 5.25" bay slots available, you can add in the ROG Front Base unit. You can either install it yourself or special order it in the comment section.
