Hi all, will this system be able to play any game currently on the market at the highest settings with reasonable (i.e. playable) frames per second? I'm thinking at least 50ish FPS.

Hi yodachoda,

You have made some good picks.

1. I would select the 256 850 Pro over the Evo for $48.

2. The 970 GPU will play most games with good FPS at 1920 x 1080 resolution. But the ratings are averages and you might fall back a bit with some scenes. Probably not enough to worry about. The 980 will give you about a 15% boost over the 970 but at a cost penalty. I suggest you go to AnandTech and check out their Bench test for GPUs. That will give you a good idea of what to expect from your 970. You can even compare the 970 performance to the 980 with many different games.

Noname makes a good point. If you go with the 970 GPU you might save some money going with the Vanquish level 4.

Extra PSU is not necessary for a system like this unless he'll be putting a second GPU as well as a TV tuner card or other peripherals that draw a lot of power. This should be good enough for a system with SLI GTX 970's.
