Hello,

I got my DS computer 4 years ago and saw some good deals recently on RAM memory. This is my system:

Processor: Intel Core i7 2600K 3.40GHz (Unlocked CPU for Extreme Overclocking) (Quad Core)
Motherboard: ASUS P8P67 Deluxe (Intel P67 Chipset) (New & Improved B3 Revision Without SATA 3G Issue)
System Memory: 8GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested)

If I were to upgrade to the CORSAIR Vengeance Pro 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1866 Desktop Memory Model CMY16GX3M2A1866C9R would there be any issues? Or should I stick with the 1600 memory. The 1866 actually cost less than 1600 that's why I'm curious.

Thanks for any help or ideas.

You shouldn't have any issues upgrading to that ram. It is listed for the p8p67 Deluxe . The faster ram might not be all that noticeable in performance but if it's cheaper, then go for it. Big%20Smile

Thank you sir. So the only thing I have to do is go to BIOS and change the memory setting to 1866? Or do I even need to do that?

Chances are you'll need to either set it up manually by putting in the speed, timings and voltage or select xmp profile. Some can just use auto settings and see if it takes. Maybe set voltage seperate with auto if it faults out. Every mobo, etc is a bit different. I believe its under AI tweaker.

Ew, Bprat... don't tell people to use AI Tweaker.

Go into your bios, and enable XMP Profile then select the one that shows the correct speed. Over all the years that intel has released XMP profile settings, I've seen it once out of the thousands of times it's been used not work.

XMP is your savior. It will auto set your voltage, and timings. If your memory does not work with XMP profiles enabled, send it back. Don't adjust it. You clearly got a faulty set up in ram.

To note those, then when you put in new sticks of ram, it will disable XMP by default, thus causing you to lose your OC on your CPU too (if you had one). So, enable XMP - Select your profile (most ram only has one or two... and they are usually damn near identical) - Redo your CPU OC.

Enjoy.

LOL What's up Meller?

Actually in some Asus Bios, Pro and A for example, its the AI Tweaker tab that gets you to the XMP selection, enable, etc. Some have a selection on the EZ screen, but if not, then Advanced then AI Tweaker.

I just go to Advance, then scroll down in the general tab for the most part of my EUFI. But I do have an older out of date motherboard.
