I got Quake 3 Arena a few years ago when it wasn't popular anymore. It's been a while sents I've had it installed on my computer. I never did get to play it online because no one else was online to play against. I'd love to try it out soon.

You're right! I went into the server room and found out it had restarted itself after applying automatic updates.
Please try now, it should be good.

Hmmmm, it's fine here. Maybe we were being hammered on other sides of the network. It should be good after 6PM (PST).

Ah! I don't play a lot of multiplayer stuff online, usually it's just Civ with my girlfriend and/or brothers, but the other day I remembered how much fun I used to have playing Quake III online, so I'm glad to see this.
I downloaded the demo on Steam but can't get MP to work - I thought for some reason the demo would allow MP on select maps - am I wrong or is my system somehow not configured right? If I can get this figured out I'll get the full game and join you guys for some matches - even though I'll probably be consistently snuffed out of existence.
There was one map in particular that I used to play for hours, online, with bots, etc - it was like a floating space map with the quad damage floating up top on a platform and rock launchers on both sides. That map is awesome.

If you are thinking about buying it i recommend staying far away from the Quake pack that Steam offers. It is not supported by ID and has problems with asking for cd-keys and punkbuster boots, take a look at the Quake Steam forums, people are not happy. I would reccomend going to your local Best Buy and picking up the Ultimate Quake collection usually retails for about 20 bucks and has Quake 1-3 and non of the hassles of the Steam version.
