I'm configuring a Twister Pro system and need some advice in requard to processor and video selection. Do to budget I narrowed it down to either:
Q6600 w/320MB 8800GTS or
E6750(stage 3 Twister Boosted) w/ 640MB 8800GTS
Either way I would be running 2G XMS 800Mhz RAM. And I'm looking to run at max 1280x1024 resolution. So what do you guys think, Quad core w/ less video memory or Dual core w/ more video memory.
P.S. I would like to maximize to play UT3 when it comes out.
Thanks, Jeff

Depends what you going to be doing.
You don't want the 640MB 8800 GTS for either one if you are only going to run at 1280x1024. |

So your saying the 640MB is not going to help me unless I run higher resolutions, would I still be able to turn up the eye candy with the 320MB? Also what's your thoughts between Quad vs Duo core? My gaming right now is revolving around UT2004,Rainbow6 Vegas, F.E.A.R, Doom3, UT3 in Nov. (See a trend there )

with ut3 and doom4 and the new F.E.A.R sequel coming out, you're going to want to go with a bigger card. A minimum of the 8800gtx. (Regardless of what anyone else here thinks). The more physical onboard ram, the better the processing of the game. Period. Sure, it also helps with larger resolutions, but to turn up everything, you're going to want to go with the 640 gts or preferably the gtx.
But also keep in mind, Nvidia is rumored to be releasing the 9 series cards in a couple of months. So you might want to aim small for now and then upgrade to the 9 series cards. I personally won't be upgrading for a while. I made the mistake of getting the 8800GTX cards the day they came out and then had to wait several months before a stable driver was even released. So I can only imagine the nightmare with the 9 series. |

Every game can run fine with 320mb up to 1600x1200 resolution.
I would go with the Q6600 and overclock it. |
