In addition to the above, I have the following:
Windows Vista Home Premium (if necessary) *OR* Windows XP Home (preferred)
250 GB SATA harddrive
80 GB IDE harddrive
IDE CD-writer
external DVD-rewriter
a friend willing to buy a video card in the $100-130 range (nVidia only...suggestions?)

I am mainly looking for the bare minimum for decent gameplay (medium graphics options) in my most common games...City of Heroes, World of Warcraft, the upcoming DC Universe Online, Civ 4, Dungeon Siege II, a few others. Nothing REALLY intense.

I have a budget of a maximum of $750. I would prefer under $700...under $650 would be really nice... The build linked above goes a little over $750, which is uncomfortable.

I am deliberately leaving room for upgrades later on. Right now I just want the minimum to get the gameplay I want.

Video card suggestions would be nice as well, though since I'm not getting it through this company you don't have to ;)

you have to go with vista 64bit otherwise you won't be using all of your system's total ram.

Not really helpful, but thanks for at least looking.

No, I won't, because I only have 2GB RAM slated. I have access to only 32bit versions, and to buy a new version of Windows means I have to subtract around a hundred dollars from my available funds for the computer itself. If anything, I'll get Windows 7 64bit when I want to upgrade to 4+GB RAM. I don't need it anytime soon.

Don't know yet. Depends how much wattage I have left over after I get my goodies picked out.

without knowing how much gpu ram you have, you are already at 4GB of ram, again not counting your gpu ram which we have to, your ticket number says 4GB of 1333MHz ram, is that a mistake?
