Just thought I'd pass along a review with pics of the ODE#0 the stork delivered last week.
What a rig! It runs cool and smooth, with Civ 5 and BF2 almost maxed out(2XAA) on a 23" monitor at 1920 res. Next I'll reload Oblivion and Crysis and A10C warthog to check out the eye candy and then wait for Skyrin and BF3 later on. As you can see from the pics, hope they ported over OK, the box was huge and the packaging the best I've ever seen. It shipped with PC on its side which seemed odd until I figured it'll prevent it from tipping over and the A70 and gpu will have less stress on the mobo. Looks like air membranes top and bottom to help absorb Fedex. ODE hooked up flawlessly and runs great. My two sons showed up, their eyes went wide and said,"what the hell is that, never saw anything like it." My old computer enclosure just won't hack it anymore. The assembly is neat and professional, wires hidden and open for air flow. Great job Digital Storm. |

Congrats
Instead of the side window, use the mesh side grill and add 4 fans to it for best air flow. |

Thanks DST, the mesh side grill and fans is a definite in the near future. I'll hunt the forum and find the fans recommended by you and others, unless you can repeat it here. This ODE is a monster. Should've gone this way long ago.

Nexus 120mm Real Silent case fan - D12SL-12 Black and white
thats the fan to use, it will match your colors but more importantly bring great airflow quietly. |

It's probably just to help with temps. However, just as a side note, no one really needs to do that to any of the ODE systems, they ship from our facility with great temps. |

Actually, I'm having second thoughts of adding fans anytime soon. The temps are rock solid even after hours of gaming. Running Realtemp seconds after exiting, ( sometime I'll do it while playing), Civ5, Oblivion or BF2 at 1920 on a 23" monitor, the cpu temps are never over high 30's low 40's.
One of these days I will run prime95, cpu-z and RealTemp to to check it out but in real-world for me it's all good. I don't feel the need, so it'll be just to play around with my new toy. Alex is right, this ODE needs no tweeking. Computing done right.

Desoto, just a side note...Last week my pc room hit 85-90 F because of heat wave and my old central air. The A70 cooler kept things never over 42C which is 107F. The A70 does work. I stopped gaming because I got heated up. Maybe I should hook an A70 to me.

The temps you are talking about (42c) are not load temps, those are idle temps and don't count, only load temps count and they need to be below 85c.
adding fans will help make better temps, better temps = longer life. also most games tax the gpu, so you need to look at gpu temps after playing heavy games for an hour. you look at cpu temps when you put the cpu under stress with things that stress the cpu. if you want to tax both, run this on both cpu and gpus Edited by DST4ME - 28 Jul 2011 at 1:15pm |

DST, i am new to this temp thing, but wouldn't the cpu temps under gaming for hours be a form of real world stressing. Granted, the loads won't be what prime 95, etc will generate but is it a decent indicator? I'm always open to learning.
And, yes, I haven't checked gpu temps yet. I think over the weekend I might do some of the testing you've suggested to get a feel for things. Nice a to have a computer I feel liking testing things on. |

DST, I'm going to post under performancr/overclocking with a few questions. Probably should move this discussion to there.

I just ordered the ODE Level 1. I was wondering how quickly your machine was tested and shipped! Do you think you could provide that information?
Also, Congrats on the rig man! Looks sick!!! |

Well bprat22 for gaming and your use, then depending, your real world use is different.
but when you check oc stability for example, you will not find problems with it if you just use light or moderate real world use, which then can lead to problems down the line. So to properly test stability and temps we need to stress the parts to full extent and make sure temps are good and things are stable, now this is done by DS already, but we like to also run test ourselves and check and see what the pc is made out of. |

Spyke77, this is a great system. I ordered the rig Sat. July 2nd, it was processed on Tues. July 5th because of the 4th holiday weekend. Emails informing me of various stages of testing happened immediatly and came fast. The following Monday July 11th it shipped and Fedex delivered it on Tues. July 19th.
It was about 3-4 business days to ship after processing the bank ( Excellant), and shipping from Calif to Connecticut took 5-6 days (not Excellant but good) It seemed to take months, but was all worth it DST, thanks. I posted my preliminary tests elsewhere.

DST, this is the fan you listed http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835610006
How does it mount in the case? Are there already screw holes in the case? And, does it fill the whole hole where the transparent insert is? Could not figure it out from the pictures. At $12.00, it is not much cost.
