Hi cwmd....That is a great build. Not much to say except you really don't need more than 8GB 1600Mhz ram, but your call. Some do it ' just in case' if it's in the budget.
We like the air coolers better, like the D14 or Phanteks. They cool that chip great, are relatively quiet and very reliable. But, the H100 does the job. Good Luck |

Thank you bprat 22. I have an old DS system with a Corsair Obsidian 800D case which is awesome looking, but with the Noctua CPU air cooler, it is pretty noisy. In this new build I picked the HAF X case instead as I've heard that the bigger fans are much quieter. Any recommendation as to which case to pick for better cooling properties and less noise?
Also, is it worth it with to go with the ivy bridge chip with my gaming/resolution goals keeping in mind that the ivy bridge can run hotter?
Are my keyboard and mouse good? I had some Razer products previously and I wasnt too impressed with them to be honest
Thanks for any help/advice anyone can pass along...

Hi cwmd,
That is a pretty good build. A few things to consider. 1. The 690 would not be my choice but that is up to you. It is the best of the dual GPU cards so far but still a bad idea to me. 2. You don't need Win-7 Ultimate unless you work with foreign languages. Win-7 Pro will give you all you need. 3. You forgot to order your free T-Shirt. Frank |

FrankW....I forgot the free t-shirt
cwmd....The best case is the one you picked....the HafX. I would leave it in. Ivy Bridge heat issue from all I've read is when it's pushed beyond 4.8. DS will test it and do thermal check and adjust as needed. Alex has said it isn't an issue and they do the testing. I agree with Frank on the 690 vs sli 680. Everyone is going gaga over the 690 and it is attractive, but, and I've mentioned it elswhere.....If a gtx680 dies, it's alot cheaper replacing one 680 than a 690. IMHO, the 690 is a good pick if you don't have a sli mobo or you need the quad gpu setup. Just my thoughts. |

Thanks guys. OK I will change to the GTX 680, I agree, good idea. Also will change to Win Pro to save a bit of money. Any advice on the keyboard and mouse? Anyone ordering these or using them atm?

I personally use the Logitech G15 gaming keyboard and the logitech G9 gaming mouse. I really like them. I got them when I purchased my DS system 2 yrs ago. I will be ordering a new DS system in a month or so and will keep using the G15 and G9.
