your config will run any game perfectly fine.

and before you go spending your money on an ati 4870x2

have a look at this charts:

have a look here, iati seperates itself in high resolutions, otherwise some cases gtx is going better

have a look at all the info and make up your mind

huh...bad link?

they cover a range of games, everything else pretty much falls under one of those games.

the differnce is only noticed in all those apps and games only when in higher resolution.

ITs a great card, but for resolutions under 1600 x 1050, you won't notice much of a difference between gtx and x2.

I can't blame anybody for liking the x2 card, its a great card, not worth the money right now unless you have high res and want to play highend

Through those charts, it looks like the 260 is the best card for cheap with only a 5 fps average difference between it and the 280. the ATI card is pretty great but I read reviews that it overheats, fast and becomes VERY hot.

its almost 2 cards in one, so its gonna produce the same heat and yes there is very little differnce between 260 and 280, if you look at my posts to everybody, I have said that, I don't know how manytimes

so now you got all the info, you can make a good choice based on all the info you have

I think its the best way to go.

Temps differer from person to person, due to cooling and case and many other things.

One person's temp experience may not be somebody else's.

Let me think this over. IF I get the ati card x2, I'll def. need liquid cooling to make sure it doesn't over heat. That costs extra. BUT, I'll need a bigger case but my computer holder doesnt fit that......*thinks over things*

dangit. So many different variations to one configuration of one computer. Sigh. *thinks*

haf can easily handle the x2 or what ever you got so the case is no issue.

HAF is great for both air and liquid, thats what its featured as the gaming case here, well that and the price is so great for all that.

Well...We're talking good airflow cases here..Not off the shelf mini towers stuffed full...the card vents out the back..so not only does the fan cool it, it also helps indirectly move case heat out by picking it up and moving it out too......We're talking a boosted fan speed over its very slow default....

still you can't say everybody is going to have your experience, different case, different setup, different room/temp.

also there is lot of other people on other forums that say their is running hot, we can't just ignore everybody else.

I'm not saying you are not correct HM, you are, what I'm saying is that others know about fan and such and still they find it running hot.

I would hope by know you know that I'm not listening or using people's opinion who don't even know how to run their GPU's fan

room temp, PC setup and etc. all make a big difference in temps.

won't you agree
lol

So I've decided that I will put my computer next to my desk. It will have better airflow because it won't be inside a tight compartment, It will have liquid cooling, and I'm getting the 850 now that I can have more space. I still don't know what to do with the open space.

BUT, because I'm getting blu ray, I decided to also add 5.1 speakers. Quad was lowered to 2.83 GHz, same graphics card, same HD space, same RAM, price is only $3094 which I can live with.

go with HAF and put the money in the CPU, there is very little difference between them in space, I'm talking and inch or two.

its fan will come in handy to keep the cards cool also, thats just my recommendaion.

Many folks buy new cards and have no idea that they need to alter the fan speeds or anything..they assume its all built in.......

If you are using any fan utility and it still runs hot you have to have it set up wrong....

I have read all through the ATI forums and the ones that complain about temps have no clue to boost their  fan speeds up......They assume its all set and ready to go I guess.....

So just to be difficult I disagree........Embarrassed   Sorry...

OK HM but that is your opinion, I'm stating other people's experiences.

also I wouldn't visit ati's forum for info from users, all experienced people are at the experienced forums/site. of course the people at ATI forums are new people.

OK so we disagree. no biggie.

in other-words HM you want me to not inform the customer of all of the other people's/site/forum experiences?

you said you think its OK, I'm giving the customer what I know from my readings and on-line chats, I'm also providing what other sites have experienced.

I never said that what you say is your experience is false, I'm just informing the customer of everybody else's experience too.

with all due respect HM, I'm not going to disregard all the other people's and site experiences.

when everybody else I know and respect on other forums, other sites/forums, say that the card is running cool then I will be on your side of the discussion.

I also don't blame you for voicing out your experience, more power to you.

I'm just providing the customer with more info that I know.

others actually have the card also, they really test the card and then tell us what they think.

I respect your opinon HM, don't think for a minute I don't

I can't see why other people's real life account or sites does not matter.

if most people are noticing heat and few are not, that does not mean that most people are wrong, IMHO, it means taht the card put out good amount of noticable heat.

again I respect your opinion, but the numbers are with the people that say it puts out good amount of heat.

I think I have given the customer enough info I hope.

I got nothing else to add, unless he wants links to sites or something.

Nah. I've got most of the information I needed. When I finally buy the computer, I'll post my specs, and pics.

BTW, I actually do need a link to a place where I can get good liquid cooling water. Maybe for cheap?

But why do people say to change it every 6 months then if other people do it over a year.

Sigh, I'm kinda noobish and wanna add an attachment to that question. Does the liquid inside already dry up over the months or do I empty it out after the amount of months?

WAIT! I'm sorry to stop this head banging festival.

For my screen, should I get one off Newegg.com or select the 24'' one here? I see the newegg one is cheaper but how can I see if the one on this site is good too?

you can compare them but we do tell people to checkout newegg and other places to see if they can get a better price.

I think you should do a lot of reading on both and see which you think is best for you.

the one listed here I'm sure is pretty good, but I don't know so I can't comment, cause it would be just my opinion in this case and not facts.

Oh. I'm just looking for a cheap 24'' screen that plays well....

I check newegg, they got a few choices, sorta expensive.

Is 1900 x 1200 the highest resolution?

I think so, checkout our hardware section we have some posts about monitor, I'm not the best person to ask about gaming monitors to be honest with you.

skyR one of our mods, knows monitors very well, you can make a post in the hardware section and ask for his opinion, when it comes to monitors, I respect his opinion very much

Since I'm not OCing my GC I won't need it then? Cause if I do, it's gonna cost like $300 more.

I don't see why you need to LC your GPU if you are not OCing them.

specially since you got the CPU liquid cooled

But doesn't the card already have a fan on it? I don't really see the point of it except making it colder.

CPU and GPU are different. So I'll liquid cool the CPU but should the Memory (RAM) be overclocked for better performance?

Yes the card does have a fan on it, but if you OC the cards then liquid cooling get ride of heat better then fans.

but like I said, you are not over clocking the cards so liquid cooling for the cards is not needed in your case, specially since you have the CPU liquid cooled, all the air from the big fans will be helping the GPUs fan and your system should be cool.
