Hi marmup... That build looks great to me. Really nothing to critique.
What OS you get is a personal choice. I'd get the latest with any new build for better support and the latest DiectX support but up to you. One thing.... Not sure you'll actually get the 2400mHz speed on the ram, but could happen. Depends how cpu overclock goes. For your stated needs, the 1600mHz should do it. Few games will see a difference. Looks great and stay in touch. |

Actually, the Impact is a favorite for memory overclockers. As far as the OP. You have a very solid system there. bprat22 is correct that for a strictly gaming system, you would be fine with less expensive memory. The Samsung 850 Pro is available, though DS does not carry it yet. That is the current leader in SSD performance. The Maximus VII Impact was launched on August 14th. At the time my understanding was it was just getting into the distribution channel. To the best of my knowledge they haven't shown up in the US, yet. No word on if DS will carry that motherboard. On September 9th or 10th Nvidia is expected to launch its GTX 900 graphics card line with Maxwell GPUs. NDA will not lifted until the 19th. No word on actual availability. But, I would expect that Nvidia really wants these in high availability for the Christmas shopping season. Windows 8 will have better gaming performance with support for newer versions of DirectX. My brother uses it and is happy with it, but he added http://www.classicshell.net/. I haven't used it so I have no direct experience. |
