Hello everyone! So I've finally made it. I'm finally financially capable of buying my own PC big rig. After years of playing on low settings, and always having to turn AA off along with all of the other fancy features, I've arrived. The only thing is, is that i don't have the necessary know how to fully understand how to build a strong, fully functional PC. I'm scared that i might put parts together that do not work together and the like. Any advice on this build will be much appreciated. I have been lurking the forums and read a lot of others advice and have come up with this.
1. Your Budget: $2500 give or take 2. Expectations: Game. Dual monitors. The ability to upgrade in the future. Maybe stream if It's possible (I am clueless on streaming requirements.) Usage: Same as #2 4. Special Needs: Quiet is nice but not a must. High FPS rates in MAX settings is what I'm ultimately shooting for. Not needing to upgrade for a 2-3 years out of necessity. Would like the option to add another GPU if I want. Hi and welcome to the forums. The configuration is a bit of overkill but is a solid build and should carry you into the future as well as any other in this line. It will more than meet your needs now and upgradability is there. |

Thanks for the quick response Pacesetter. Would you be willing to elaborate on what you're seeing that is overkill? |

Hi BILBO.... Looks like a solid build.
You didn't mention the monitors resolution so I'm guessing 1920x1080? If so, the single gtx 980 will play real nice. Plus, you do have the mobo and psu to go sli if ever needed. Good luck. Edited by bprat22 - 18 Apr 2015 at 3:40pm |

The stock power supply should be fine even with SLI.
Really no need to OC the video card. It will do fine. |

Hello bprat! Thanks for the response. I'm not real sure with the monitor resolution. For that past few years I've been hooking up my SONY 1080p 42 or 46inch (can't remember what it is) TV. I will probably continue to use that for a bit, unless using a TV is garbage for a high end PC. If that is the case then I'll have to do some homework on monitors. Any suggestions? |

Generally TVs will have a 24Mhz refresh rate where gaming monitors will be from 60-144. (higher is better)
TN type for speed, IPS for quality, and you can use something like G-sync if you plan on using Nvidia Gforce Experience. Price can go from 100 - well over 4k. Here is a couple of links where you can browse and check out the best as well as learn about them. http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/top-best-computer-monitors,3917.html http://computers.toptenreviews.com/monitors/ http://elitegamingcomputers.com/the-best-monitors-for-gaming/ http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2402169,00.asp hope this helps. Many people like the Dell, BenQ, ASUS, AOC etc. so it can come to what you like and price. Let us know if we can help more on this. |

Yeah, thats probably a 1920x1080. Nothing wrong with gaming on a larger screen tv if you sit farther back and it does fill the room. But, 1920x1080 will be a better sharper picture on a smaller screen. More pixel density. A 24" at 1920x1080 is pretty common when sitting up closer. For a larger screen, moving up to a 30"at 2560x1600 is a way to keep sharpness, color and contrast. But it can get expensive.
As far as monitor picks, there are so many good screens I haven't kept up. I'm still using a Dell 23" 2311 h and it looks great. |

As far as the psu, the 750 watt would most likely be fine. I personally would get the EVGA 850watt for the little extra headroom, just me wanting more, and it being a better psu with 10year vs 3 year warranty if registered. Better warranty even if not registered.
