Budget: Less than or equal to $3,000
So i'm coming real close to making a purchase but I want to make sure the system I customized is the "best" possible configuration for my budget, both for cost and performance. The main use of this computer will be for gaming. Please tell me your opinions and whether there are important additions/deductions that should be made to the current configuration. Cheers! -Andy Saved Ticket #: 743573 Specifications: ($2,986.00) Chassis Model: Special Deal Hot Seller - Cooler Master 942 HAF X Exterior Finish: - Standard Factory Finish Trim Accents: - Standard Factory Finish Processor: Intel Core i7 3820 3.6GHz (Turbo Mode up to 3.8GHz) (Quad Core) Motherboard: ASUS Rampage IV Extreme X79 (Intel X79 Chipset) (Features USB 3.0 and SATA 6Gb/s) System Memory: 16GB DDR3 1600MHz Digital Storm Certified Performance Series (Highly Recommended) (Hand Tested) Power Supply: 1200W Digital Storm Certified (Dual/Triple/Quad SLI Compatible) (Silent Edition Highly Recommended) Expansion Bay: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 1: Operating System: 1x (120GB Solid State (By: Corsair) (Model: Neutron GTX Series) (SATA 6Gbps) Set 1 Raid Options: - No Thanks Hard Drive Set 2: Multimedia\Data: 1x (1TB Western Digital Caviar (7200 RPM) (Model: Black Edition) Hard Drive Set 3: Backup\Misc.: - No Thanks Optical Drive 1: ASUS Blu-Ray Player/DVD Writer (Play Blu-Ray and Burn DVDs) (Model: BC-12B1ST) Optical Drive 2: - No Thanks Internet Access: High Speed Network Port (Supports High-Speed Cable / DSL / Network Connections) Video Card(s): 1x NVIDIA GeForce GTX 680 2GB (Includes PhysX) Add-on Card: - No Thanks Sound Card: Integrated Motherboard Audio Extreme Cooling: AIR: Stage 2: Noctua NH-D14 SE2011 Extreme Performance H20 Tube Color: - Not Applicable, I do not have a FrostChill or Sub-Zero LCS Cooling System Selected Chassis Airflow: Standard Factory Chassis Fans Internal Lighting: Internal Chassis Lighting System (Red) Enhancements: - No Thanks Chassis Mods: - No Thanks Noise Reduction: Noise Suppression Package Stage 1 (Optimized Airflow & Fan Speeds Only) LaserMark: - No Thanks CPU Boost: Stage 2: Overclock CPU 4.5GHz to 4.8GHz (Requires Pro/Deluxe/Sabertooth Motherboard) Graphics Boost: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my video card(s) Memory Boost: - No Thanks, Please do not overclock my memory OS Boost: - No Thanks, Please do not tweak the services on the operating system Windows OS: Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium (64-Bit Edition) Recovery Tools: Windows Recovery Toolkit (Bundled with Windows 7 CD) Virus Protection: - No Thanks Office: - No Thanks Game: - No Thanks Display: - No Thanks Surge Shield: - No Thanks Speakers: Logitech 2.1 System (Model LS21) (Includes Subwoofer) Keyboard: Razer Arctosa Gaming Keyboard (USB) Mouse: Razer Deathadder (Infrared 3500 dpi) (Gaming Mouse) (USB Wired) External Storage: - No Thanks Exclusive T-Shirt: - No Thanks Priority Build: - No Thanks, Ship Within 10-15 Business Days After Order Is Successfully Processed Warranty: Life-time Expert Customer Care with 4 Year Limited Warranty Edited by Frido - 26 Oct 2012 at 6:59pm |

Looks real good. Only comments I would make are that I would want a 240GB ssd since 120 will fill up quick with a OS and games, but a 120 will do fine.
Same with the motherboard, I ended up going with the ASUS deluxe for that chipset rather than the Rampage, based mostly on the fact that the deluxe had some extra features and is still set up for easy overclocking, but either will be a great board.
No free T shirt?
Finally, you can request an extra fan in the comments for the HAFX that goes up top (for a total of 2 top 200mm fans) for $30.
*edit* just saw the $3000 limit. I'd say keep the 120 SSD, get a DLX mobo and add the fan and T shirt in that case. Edited by caver - 26 Oct 2012 at 9:05pm |
